    7.62 or 5.45 AK's : Which to scope?

I have both and have tried red dots and scopes on both. +1benEzra: Decide what the priority intended use is for each gun, and then choose the optic based on that? I prefer using the optic rail system with QR mounts. That way you can quickly change the AK to "mission specific"....iron...

Guns that are just plain fun to shoot

Any of my shotguns when it comes to Sporting Clays. For plinking Hi-Point 9mm is fun....But, even more fun is an AK74 bullpup. And, cheaper to shoot with spam can ammo. However, with 30rnd mags, you can go thru some ammo fast.

    Saiga in 7.62x39

http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=186432&stc=1&d=1374094956 Here is an OEM skeleton stock on an older EAA Saiga I had. I wish I didn't sell it, now. Luckily, I took the skeleton stock off, before I sold it. It is now back on the 08 RAA 7.62x39 that it came on.

    Saiga in 7.62x39

tonytor58: Yes, some Saigas come with a factory sketelton stock. It has a flip up cheek piece for use with an optic. You can occasionally find the OEM Saiga ones in the WTS/classifides of the Saiga forum or Gunboards. I was able to purchase another and put it on my 5.45 Saiga.

    New AK-74 Clone, Waffen Werks

I shoot 7N6 alot. I have for awhile. Prior to regular Hoppes cleaning, I rinse the barrel and bolt assembly with hot water. Doesn't cost any more $ to clean, only a few more minutes. I don't use any special cleaning tools. All my 5.45x39 pieces run well. The cheap ammo was what lead me to this...

    LE6920 at Walmart

Sounds like same prices as here in NCC, DE. Been that price for awhile; they come in sporadically. The LGS have many AKs, ARs, and other evil black rifles, but they are considerably higher $$$. Of course, they have much more selection and the high priced ammo to go with them.

What is your preferred inexpensive red dot, and why?

Tried a TruGlo on a Hi-Point 9mm carbine (that's a cheap combo!). It didn't last one box of Tula steel 9mm (more cheapness). The dot got big and fuzzy, so I sent it back to Midway USA and got store credit. I have had good luck with Bushnell Trophy red dots; the MP and the regular 28mm tube...

I might buy this AK-47, here are the details

If he will let you, shoot it. Make sure the front sight isn't canted and it shoots OK. If you like it, buy it. You both will be getting an OK deal.

    Help with first M44 purchase

check J&G Sales, they have them and ammo frequently. It's always better to be able to handle one before you buy. But, I have bought rifles (M91s) using various on-line auction sites. If there are no gunshows or LGS in your area that might have them. Go ahead and order from a reputable...

What is it about Soviet Rifles...

Price. If Springfield 1903s were selling for $99 like the Mosin Nagants; and the M1 Garands were selling for $249 like the SKSs; and ARs were selling for $499 like AKs, then FAR fewer people would touch the Mosins, SKSs, or AKs. (Pre-panic prices, of course...) My guess is that is why the...

    Favorite Rifle in Your Collection

Remington M91 because it is fun to shoot and is a great crowd pleaser. And for a nearly 100yr old rifle can still break clay pigeons at 100yds!

Saiga Barrel Components (5.45 vs .223)

I removed a severely canted FSG from an EAA Saiga .223 and put a Bulgarian FSG (like in your picture) on it. The barrel diameter was so much larger than the inside diameter of the FSG, that I had the Bulgarian FSG milled out to like .001" less than the barrel diameter. You need to mic the...

Why did I ever sell my first Mosin?

Forgot to mention. I sold my first Mosin Nagant ($125 matching M91/30) because I started collecting M44s. Then sold all my M44s to collect US M91s. That's were I am now....might sell them and start collecting something else.....like M39s?
