Except for one 6.5 I have, all my Arisakas are "last ditch" examples of varying quality of construction. The 6.5 is a VERY good shooter.

CZguy, Did you notice the stock? I think it's made out of mahogany or something like it. Nothing like the junk woods the Japanese used for their service rifles. Your pictures appear to show the same type of stock that mine is. Anybody out there know what kind of wood it is...for certain?

I've got a couple of "experts" looking at it. The serial number is what really confuses me. I'd never heard of a North Korean T99, particularly from the Vietnam era. Weapons had advanced so far by then, all either SKs or AKs. The closest star mark I could find was from the Korean armory...

Thanks. I'll do that right now. I'm beginning to think this is a Korean arsenal piece, but I can't find anything yet on the web that will verify this. I am certain it is a late manufacture...toward the end of the war. It is very crudely made, though not as crude as a couple of "Last Ditch"...

Too late. I bought it...and regreted it the instant I fired it. An Enfield Jungle Carbine. It is the only thing I've ever shot that was truly painful. Maybe that rubber "pad" on the butt was soft at some point, but it's nothing but a very hard thing now.
