    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

Except for one 6.5 I have, all my Arisakas are "last ditch" examples of varying quality of construction. The 6.5 is a VERY good shooter.

    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

CZguy, Did you notice the stock? I think it's made out of mahogany or something like it. Nothing like the junk woods the Japanese used for their service rifles. Your pictures appear to show the same type of stock that mine is. Anybody out there know what kind of wood it is...for certain?

    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

Wardenwolf, It never occurred to me that it might be more valuable, but you're right. Because it was never built to be a real rifle I don't necessarily want it among my Arisakas, all shootable. (Most of'em with reduced loads of course.) Maybe I can trade it to somebody? It sure was neat to...

    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

OK, I finally got the scoop on this mystery relic of mine, or pretty much so anyway. Last week when I tried to pour a mould to see what the chamber measured up to I found that it hadn't been properly milled for a round; One diameter chamber, then a hard shoulder, not a bevel for the neck, with...

    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

I've got a couple of "experts" looking at it. The serial number is what really confuses me. I'd never heard of a North Korean T99, particularly from the Vietnam era. Weapons had advanced so far by then, all either SKs or AKs. The closest star mark I could find was from the Korean armory...

    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

Thanks. I'll do that right now. I'm beginning to think this is a Korean arsenal piece, but I can't find anything yet on the web that will verify this. I am certain it is a late manufacture...toward the end of the war. It is very crudely made, though not as crude as a couple of "Last Ditch"...

    What's your "never buy" gun?

Too late. I bought it...and regreted it the instant I fired it. An Enfield Jungle Carbine. It is the only thing I've ever shot that was truly painful. Maybe that rubber "pad" on the butt was soft at some point, but it's nothing but a very hard thing now.

    Mystery Chinese Arisaka?

I've surfed the web hoping to find something definitive about this odd ball I just picked up. It is a Model 99 Arisaka...but it isn't. It's got a star stamped on the receiver where the mum would normally be. It's got a one piece stock with Chinese characters on the right side. I've got a...
