Well got out yesterday with the chronograph, put 10 rounds through it averaging 2622 with a 4fps standard deviation so guess I'll just keep loading that big pile of free brass thats been sitting in the drawer forever! Group opened up a bit to .75 but thats probably just me, I'm a happy camper.

I have the 25x millet on an m1a and it really is HEAVY AND HUGE!!! But it is very good quality and adjustments are repeatable and reliable. Overall I couldnt be more satisfied with it but would never put it on a rifle i intended to use for anything other than match, predator or varmint purposes...

I've made more than my fair share of plywood (currently production supervisor of a plywood mill), and I myself have a bench top like the one you describe and i would say if you damage that you must be resizing some un-lubed 50bmg lol.
I would say if your m1a is a standard model (mine is) use your standard 308 resizing die and let it cam over good and hard but if you get a model with a match barrel/chamber save yourself the potential headache and get a small base die. I experimented for an eternity with brass, primers, powder...
