    Carjacking?

As far as being able to get away, that's the most obvious option, especially considering your car is probably going to outrun any bad guy on foot. I've been trained as a delivery driver to leave at least four feet of road between the car's tire in front of you and the top of your hood. It's a...

    Gun Owner pet peeves

Caliber snobs. Really, what bad guy will say "You shot me with the wrong damn caliber" after you've shot him. And of course, anyone who puts $2,000 worth of stuff on a $600 AR.

Diversity vs consolidation: an internal debate

I have a similar dilemma. As much as I'd love to buy more guns, that would require me to buy at least so much ammo for it (typically, I'm not satisfied until I have at least two cases of the appropriate caliber.) I'm limited by space, and of course, because I'm broke and in college, making $7.50...

How to react to a death threat

File a report if you even remotely think the bad guy is being serious. When push comes to shove and if you have to shoot in self defence, having a report already out on the guy documenting his threats will go a long way.

    Cincinnati, Ohio - November 14, 15

Went there on Saturday morning. Prices on ammo are finally reaching acceptable levels. (They're about 30% lower than they are currently in Lexington, and about 50% off their panic-highs). I picked up a case of 8mm for a hundred dollars (same price at AIM just up the road). I may pull some...

    Cincinnati, Ohio - November 14, 15

Hi all: Due to high prices (esp. for ammo) at the Lexington gun shows, I'll now be heading up to the Bill Goodman gun shows, instead. I'm going to be at the next one this weekend, probably on Saturday. If anyone's going to be there, it's at the Sharonville Convention Center. $7 admission, and...

how often do you guys shoot?

Not in almost three months now. Can't find any ammo, and when I do, it's still too expensive. I'm just going to sit on what I have until the situation improves.

Why a 22 LR rifle is considered by many the ultimate survival firearm?

If I'm heading for the hills, I'd like to be going for an AK/AR (probably AK at the moment) and one of those .22 rifles that break down into pieces. I don't know what people have against the .22. You can carry enough with you (read: a brick) to last you a long time. And for all those that...

If you had to choose a rifle and a handgun to go into a battle/armed conflict ?

AK and 1911. And one of those .22 rifles that break down into pieces to be stored away.

Flying on Delta out of Atlanta - should I bother packing my pistol?

I would love to be as constructive as possible, but given the troubles that would entail from trying to fly (out of anywhere for that matter, but especially Atlanta), it isn't worth it. Drive. If your destination is less than 10-12 hours away by car, odds are you'd get there sooner anyway than...

    Preparing for an attack!

I've only read the first page or so, so I may have entirely missed the boat here, but: If you're concerned about people approaching from the house on the outside, then hardening the wall with plywood would not only be impractical but probably ineffective. It would seem so much more...

Fatal Chicago Beating - What could a bystander have done?

I'm surprised by the number of people who would want to get involved. The last thing I would want is to get involved, then have to shoot five or six idiots in self defense. The DA would have a field day with that case, regardless of the law, it would still be a long and costly legal battle...

    Lexington, Kentucky - September 19, 20

I showed up early - for some reason power was out to half of the building. It came on after a short while, though. I scored a decent price on a Mauser but wasn't able to find any ammo. The prices are simply ridiculous. I refuse to pay $9 for a box of 20 Romanian surplus 8x57. Now I've got an...

    Lexington, Kentucky - September 19, 20

Hi all: I'm going to the next Kenny Woods show in Lexington the weekend of the 19th and 20th. Just putting this out there to see if anyone else will be going this weekend. It's my first gun show since June, I'm going to see if some of the panic, especially with regards to ammo, has subsided...
