I have carried mine for five years, have nearly 10,000 rounds through it, and have had no malfunctions or parts break in that time. It has been an excellent pistol.
There are .22 mags with both orange and black baseplates. From what I have seen the police issue sets always have orange baseplates, but I am not certain of this. This set came as shown.

It's a rifle. Call it one. Giving them a cute name makes a distinction that there is something different about them and does everyone a disservice. Same with the term "standard capacity magazine" people throw around. The capacity shouldn't enter into it. It's a magazine.
The AR15 is the better rifle. Superior ergonomics and control layouts, faster magazine changes, greater inherent mechanical accuracy, and much easier to adapt. There is really nothing the AK will provide you that the AR15 won't do better.
Or perhaps some people have trouble concealing a larger pistol because they are overweight...
