Well, I would suggest with that info, try shooting some of your reloads out of his mini-14 and see if they light. That could be helpful if they worked out of his gun.

Agree with drg. Had mine about a year with a couple thousand rounds over it, I only measure muzzle velocity at 10 feet or so, so If I can't see shadowing in the scope, I figure I am not going to hit it.
BUT, I agree it is probably only a matter of time.

+3 for L.E. Wilson
Needs shellholders for the different calibers, but absolutely reliable and repeatable.
One thing if you do get a Wilson, OIL IT! OIL IT Quickly!
Very well made of high grade machine steel. When I got it, I did not realize just how quickly that high grade steel would...
I don't mind removing the flash supressor, and will give this a try. Also am figuring out the pin gauge diameters I need so I can check the throat area.
Thanks,

Any way other than with an erosion gauge?
I bought a used m1a from a friend who I trust takes care of his guns.
My problem is that after about 500 rounds through it, I have come to the conclusion that it is a 4-5moa gun at best. I have tried factory Federal gold medal match, hand loads...
For your question regarding prone shooting and under 200 yards, yes I do both. For target shooting the 12x is absolutely fine. I guess if I was in a firefight or trying to shoot offhand, then the 12x might be kinda tough, but the rifle is not rigged for that. If you want versatility, then...
I have the nightforce NSX 12-42 x 50mm on a Tikka T3 tactical with a harris bipod.
By far the best setup I have. I have had minimal effects from mirage with the setup, and If you are going to be shooting prone or bench, then I don't think you could get better optics for the money. I have...
+1 Black Dog
No need to look for any others. Theirs is about perfect. Several thousands of rounds through mine and never had one problem with any of them.
well, I will definitely practice on a piece of wood first, but I can't use too much to practice, that duracoat is expensive stuff, but not as much as a new stock I guess :p
Thanks for the input guys, I guess I will take the plunge.
So, what do you think about including the barrel on an m14 in the duracoat job? Will it get too hot?
And as far as the spray gun, it looks like I can hook it into a compressor and not used the can of air right?
I will look at...
I am getting a SA M14 with a synthetic stock. The stock is in matte black. I want to do a duracoat camo job on the stock, scope mount, rings and possibly the barrel (part of the question)
I have zero artistic talent. I think I suck artistry out of the room when I walk in.
Is a duracoat...
guffey,
The trim mate itself works fine. I do like it, but the chamfer and debur tools that came with it produce seriously sub-par results compared to my handheld RCBS tool.
It seems that the chamfer has a VERY small angle on it, is your chamfer angle the same as the standard handheld RCBS...
I am having some issues with the RCBS trimmate. I have found that I am having to use my hand held chamfer and debur tool to properly prep my cases. The debur tool that comes with the trimmate is useless, though I did see a thread where someone attached the handheld debur to the machine one...
For a little more I would go with a Tikka T3 Tactical. Guaranteed 1 MOA out of the box, and they mean it! Mine ended up being a 0.5 MOA tack driver after working up the proper load in it. (43gr Rel-15 and Sierra MK 168gr HPBT in mine)
