    Pay it Forward in Reloading

Is it polite to offer a trade here? If not, then ignore the trade part... I have 1k of CCI #450 Magnum Small Rifle primers available that I mail-ordered by mistake if any one wants to trade for an equal amount of CCI #400 primers? If trading is discouraged, I have 1k of CCI #450 Magnum...

    Walnuts in my primer hole

Sorry for the late reply; an out of town trip had me captive for 3 weeks with no computer... I was about to become insane with crappy hotel cable! So it seems that a finer grind of media should help with the walnuts in my flash hole problem... now, I just need to find a home for 39.5 more lbs...

    Walnuts in my primer hole

Thanks, all! I know, now, that it's normal to have walnuts in my flash hole. ;) And, thanks for the tips; I won't worry what order I trim/swage in, then. I guess I was reading how some others see some slight dimpling right around the primer pocket after swaging, and wondered if it would...

    Walnuts in my primer hole

Hello all, I've done a few thousand pistol loads so far (cleaned with walnut media in a vibratory cleaner) BEFORE de-priming with no issues. Now, I've stared reloading .223 rifle brass and followed the same process. However, I've seen videos of people throwing the resized/deprimed brass...

What to do after cast bullet sizing?

Doh! I REALLY should have RTFM (or RTFB) before I posted! :banghead: Thanks, all for the tips. After reading another post, I think I may try the 45/45/10 tumble mixture for the next batch. It looks much cleaner and quicker than a pure alox tumble. Now, I just have to dust off my spelling...

how many use a hand priming tool.

I hand prime, too... after the first 20 or so caps landed on the floor from what I know now was an ill-positioned Lee Safety Prime, I got a hand primer and it's actually much easier for me, and like others, allows me to more closely inspect each case.

What to do after cast bullet sizing?

I've looked and can't seem to find anything about this, so ask-away I go: I've just cast my first .5k of .40 cal lead bullets. I've used the liquid alox lube and passed all through the bullet sizing die. The question is, do I leave the dried alox on the bullets and load them up like they...

Taking the plunge, and a few noob questions.

I'm new to reloading as well, so take my advice with a grain of salt... So far, everyone has pretty much nailed what is recommended. I'll recommend that if you have a Harbor Freight anywhere close, you can pick up decent quality accurate calipers there. I use them for all my woodworking...

    School me on scales

After seeing the Lee scale that came with my press kit, I immediately went out and picked up a Dillon Eliminator scale. It's insanely easy to use, even for a noobie like me. I may invest in a nice digital later on, but the Dillon beam scale gives me all I need for now and didn't detract too...

All the new new reloaders. (Making the news)

I, too, learn from my mistakes. I got the Lee turret press and after loading a squib (I obviously missed a powder charge) in 20 test rounds, I promptly took the auto-index bar out and now load each round a single stage at a time and manually index to the next die when I've finished enough to...

Too high of a price for Barry's?

They are in a brick-and-mortar store, so... tax, but no shipping. So, add about $9 making them about $158

All the new new reloaders. (Making the news)

I'm also a noobie to reloading, and through this forum solely, I've learned more than any of the manuals have taught me about powders, what is good for certain calibers, and what isn't. I've been a hunter and shooter since I was 13, and at 51, I'm just learning a whole new dimension of the...

Too high of a price for Barry's?

Being new to the scene, I'm not entirely sure about prices for most supplies. I came across a range today that had a moderate amount of reloading supplies and found a few boxes of berry's plated .40cal bullets. Is $149 for 1k or these bullets too high of a price, or is it about average?

    .40 S&W, TiteGroup, and 180 JHP loads

Thanks for the tip about the Flexlight! I'll pick one up next time I'm at the Borg. However, for the close forseeable future, I'll be removing the auto-index from the turret and using it as a single-stage at least through the powder charge until I get more comfortable with the whole process...

    .40 S&W, TiteGroup, and 180 JHP loads

I'm saving the rest of the TiteGroup until I get a little more comfortable with the whole process and want to start experimenting. Maybe 5 or 6k more rounds loaded to get comfortable :) Worse case, I get some .38 SP. dies and make some a few hundred rounds for a buddy.
