I don't know about an N-frame, seems like it would be over-built. I would like to see S&W build it on either a K or L frame and offer them in 4" and 6" barrel lengths.

How about using the term "visibly empty"? As in all guns must be visibly empty when not on the firing line or holstered.

Your question is very insightful. I suggest that you go around to the various gun shops local to you and shoulder as many different brands and models that you can. A knowledgeable sales rep can guide you on proper fit. When I look to see if a particular SG fits me, I close my eyes and shoulder...

I agree and would like to add that trying to chamber a round under the stress of a defensive situation will be difficult and in some cases, impossible. Improperly done, it will tie up the gun rendering it unusable.

Although not a blow back, the Mustang is hard to beat. Very accurate and reliable.

Dan Wesson makes the Guardian in a Commander-sized version, which is excellent. S&W offers a few models that are also great.
