Pins or no pins wet tumbling?

When I first started wet tumbling I thought removing the pins would be a big hassle. As some others have mentioned using a media Seperator makes quick and complete work of removing the pins. Be sure to put enough water in the Seperator so that the brass in the basket gets a good rinse.

Cfe pistol .44 magnum and .357 magnum

I am using CFE Pistol for mild loads for 357 mag (H110 for hotter loads). 6.2 gr CFE Pistol behind a Coated Lead 158 gr SWC gives 1014 fps. I use this for an inexpensive target round.

    Lee expander dies ... SUCK!

Lee pistol caliber powder through expander dies are designed to "bump" when removing the case from the die. This is from the Lee instructions: "In use, the expander plug travels approximately 3/8” within the die and comes to an abrupt stop at extraction. This helps to shake the powder through."...

    Hornady LnL AP Primer Seater

I recently made a tech support call to Hornady about an unrelated matter regarding my LNL. While on the call I asked the tech how he felt about using a steel washer to cover the divot made by the primer punch. He said that it was OK, but he would prefer that I used something that could not...

Wet Tumbling with Stainless Steel Pins - Media Separation Tips?

Like Cheesemaker and Frogo207 I use the Franklin Arsenal media separator. I use the same technique as Frogo207 (plenty of water in the bottom tub) and have yet to find a pin in 223 or pistol brass. I use the same media separator dry to remove sizing lube from 223 brass.

    Hornaday Customer Service!!

A week or two ago I called Hornady tech support because one of the indexing balls in my #45 shell plate would not stay in place. Hornady paid shipping both ways and I had the shell plate back in a little over a week. Hard to beat that for good service.

Need powder suggestions for 45 Colt

I am using Titegroup for my 45 colt revolver loads with good results. Titegroup has a reputation for not being position sensitive which seems like an important attribute given the size of the 45 colt case.

Bullet Casting 101 on Handloader TV

I watched this video on YouTube and found it to be very informative. I am not currently a bullet caster but may be one day. I thought some of the members of this forum might find it to be helpful.

    Ugly .38 wadcutters from Missouri/Midway

I use MBC coated bullets in 357, 45 ACP and 45 Colt and have never seen any that were shoddy like yours. Out of curiosity I looked at the MBC website to see what the coated 38 special DEWC bullets should look like, and I can't find any 38 special DEWC on their site. I wonder if they were...

357 Mag. Gas Check or Coated??

I have been using the MBC .357 Action grooveless 158 gr. SWC in my GP100. These bullets are Hitek 2 coated. I have not had any leading using CFE Pistol at 1014 fps or using H110 at 1208 fps. All loads from the Hodgdon website. I am shooting at paper so the CFE Pistol load is more fun for me...

Wet tumbling - separating pins from brass with a media separator

I did try putting one pin in a 223 case and using a 450 lb. fishing magnet. The case is attracted to the magnet but it is pretty subtle. I am using the filter screen to rinse the brass several times before filling the media separator with clean water. Many thanks for all the helpful replies...

Wet tumbling - separating pins from brass with a media separator

I am new to wet tumbling, I have been tumbling pistol cases with the primers in and 223 cases with the primers removed, I use a Lyman case dryer to dry cases. I use Armorall wash and wax and Lemishine to wash the brass. After reading horror tales online of rifle barrels being ruined by pins...
