I also have a mav 88 and plan on doing basically the same thing soon.From asking around on the mossy forums it looks like as long as the forend and action tube assembly are the same length your good to go.

Hopefully your gen 4 glock is as reliable as my gen 3 has been.I had a similar choice 2 years ago and My gen 3 has been %100 reliable.Reliablility was also my #1 concern.

Glock although my Ruger SR is really growing on me.

Its really interesting reading peoples opinions on what they consider a good entry level 1911 is.I wonder if "entry level" means different things to different people i.e. upgradeable vs minimum level of trust the gun willl work.

I just picked up a Ruger SR 1911 for $680(that was including tax) last week and couldn't be happier right now.

I gotta agree with AustinTX and look at getting something alittle different.What about a 45acp all steel gun like a 1911?or maybe a CZ 97? If that doesnt float your boat then their is always the 357 magnum(Ruger sp101 or gp100).Just some food for thought.

Oh I don't think the Gen 4's are bad,I just think that their was nothing wrong with the 3's to warrant a change.YMMV and all that.

I have a Gen 3 glock 21 and love it,never considered getting the Gen4 as I dont really care for any of the changes they have made, imho.

After talking with the wife, she's ok with me spending around $625.I don't know if that gets me in the range of a rem or springfield 1911 thou.Easily enough for a ruger sp101 with a 3in barrel.Still want a 1911 or revolver and looking at options.
