Reloading question, matching factory ammo, and more

The Speer book has a separate table for 148 HBWC in the Mod. 52. Unique is not listed as a recommended powder. I'd go with Bullseye. The classic load of 2.8-3.0 grs. Bullseye will work just fine in the 52, and also in your Highway Patrolman. Seat flush with the case mouth of course. I'd...

    castle doctrine & alchohol

In TEXAS, it is legal to drink while carrying with a CHL. Carrying while intoxicated, as defined above, is not legal. And of course in an establishment legally posted with a 30.06 (usually hospitals) or 51% sign (a bar), or otherwise prohibited (e.g., gov't bldgs.). It is very similar to the...

Bent Decapping Rod - .38 Spcl - RCBS Dies

You asked in the OP what you did wrong. I told you what I thought was wrong, namely, you had the decap pin out twice as far as the spec calls for. If it's out too far, it's easy to hit the edge of the flashhole. Too much pressure and something bends or breaks. And I provided a link to the...

    Reload at the range?

I've never done it myself, but have seen guys do it over the years. They say they like the instant feedback on how the loads are doing, really simplifying the process. You need to be able to control the environment, though, so that your loads aren't interfered with by the weather or by other...

.308 is a nice cartridge, first experience

For me, it's all about the rifle. I can shoot 30-06 and others with nary a complaint. But the German G3 in 7.62 kicks me like a mule.

    I think it's over gassed.

Little dents aren't unusual. If you reload, they'll iron right out. The brass is likely just bouncing off the deflector as designed. M193 is pretty hot. I think you're good to go.

Bent Decapping Rod - .38 Spcl - RCBS Dies

Please, read the RCBS instruction sheet. RCBS specifies the pin protrude 3/16”, NOT 3/8”. I’ve reloaded 15-20K rounds with my RCBS die set. No problems. Nothing bent. Link to the sheet if you don’t have one...

    .223 / WSR primer pierced

The virtue of a Ti firing pin is light weight which translates theoretically at least to a shorter lock time. Unless your AR is set up with an exotic trigger group for use in competition, you're not going to notice the difference. Regular firing pins, unless somehow boogered up by the...

How often do you clean your guns?

Last you a month or two, if you clean at slow speed.

Again, cleaning/inspecting immediately after firing might have obviated the issue entirely.

    .223 / WSR primer pierced

I'm sort of nonplussed that after starting this thread and getting a lot of advice pointing to firing pin problems you only yesterday disassembled your gun and cleaned it! I suppose this only adds weight to the old adage about cleaning, inspecting, lubing your guns every time you fire them.
