I am a real fan of 140 gr bullets as well. They split the difference between 125 and 158. I like XTPs and Sierra JHPs, but Missouri Bullet has a 140 gr TCFP that I’ve been itching to try as well.
Kiwi paste shoe polish, just like you’re doing up your dress shoes. You can also use it to adjust the color if it isn’t just right. I used some on a Yugo Mauser because the wood looked like some kind of laminate. The shoe polish blended it pretty good.
I’m afraid I’d do more damage than good doing that.
I dropped a .257 bullet down the muzzle, and it dropped about 1 1/2 inches before it lodged in the barrel. I don’t think cutting that much off would be feasible, but maybe if I do a cast of the muzzle, I might be able to see if cutting the...
I have a surplus Carcano carbine that has about 3/4” cleaning rod damage where the outside rifling is almost completely gone, but the rifling past that is good. It shoots a wide pattern, not too bad at 25-50 yards, but opens up past that. What, if anything, can be done by a pretty handy gun...
I actually meant groove. I was having a little abdominal distress when I wrote the post, which later turned into some kind of Chinese spy balloon stomach virus.
I’m not trying to develop a reduced load by using a smaller diameter bullet, but more so just interested the concept of gas...
The other day I was reading about bullet options for 6.5 Carcano rifles. One of the articles mentioned using standard .264" bullets instead of bore filling .267-.268" bullets to reduce the pressure in older rifles. I can see where you would have gas leakage around .264 bullets, especially boat...
Half the time I don't even clean my brass at all. They usually just get a resizing and a primer pocket cleaner run through them and that's it. When I do clean my brass, I usually just wet tumble with warm water and Dawn.
Every so often though, I get the urge for a deep clean and go all the way.
I use these

I emailed them and asked about getting .268-.269 bullets, and they said to request bullets that were not sized in the comment section when ordering. When mine arrived, they measured .269”. Their FAQ website says they have...
It’s funny you say this. Most of my reloads with these have been on well used .38/357 as well. I don’t even bother to tumble it most of the time, but I always clean the pockets with a Lee primer pocket cleaner. The only brass that I’ve had issues with is new Starline .32 S&W Long, but they...
I don't know. It would be interesting to know. All the ones I've used have been from the green package as well. When they are gone, I intend to buy some of the new ones, if only to try them and see if they are as good as the others.
I keep hearing that people are having issues with these, but I’ve used nearly a thousand with only one or two failures which were more than likely my fault for not seating them completely. Maybe I just lucked up and got a good batch.
I don’t know. Unfortunately I don’t have all those different length barrels. I do know that a 158 gr bullet with a max load of fast pistol powders like Titegroup is nearly 20% faster from a 4” barrel than a 20” barrel, and Unique is virtually the same. Exactly how much of a decrease and where...
