By the way, what basic scopes will best hold up to the 50 cartridge impact? I don't care about illumination or ultra-high power zoom options. A basic black, 3 x 9 power or so would work fine I'm sure for my basic needs and capabilities.
I just purchased a new/old stock Bohica MkIII that is unfired. I need to build a lower for it and will post here how it turns out. By the way, is there a specific reason to not to shoot military surp rounds since my local gun shop advice was not to but to reload instead. I understand the many...
Colt Brevete
a 1851 Colt Brevete which is essentially an illegal Colt copy from Europe to satasfy the Great War of Northern Agression between the states, need for firearms.
Yes, black powder instruments are considered "guns" in New Jersey. In fact anything that propels a solid projectile might be callled a firearm. I'm afraid to cut my lawn without a bag in case a small rock is discharged and leaves my property line. I might be charged with assault with a deadly...
Hell yes, my parents bought me my first and I've bought everyone since for myself. In turn I bought my wife and three sons their first rifles and each one their first pistol. Along with these gifts I included the proper training and usage for each one. God bless us all.
I agree with Freddy. My first black powder revolver was in 1974, a Remington New Model Army and my latest is an 1847 Colt Walker. Thay are a hoot to shoot and I love the smell. Remember though that most other guys at the range will stand at least 5 paces upwind....Nothin' personal mind you.
2nd or 3rd gen sounds right I guess, but if Italian I'm sure it would be maker stamped and proofed, right? If it was scrubbed, wouldn't some metal be missing where the marks were removed?
I'm not new to the HighRoad but I have been away for a couple of years. I have a question regarding a Colt Walker barrel and loading lever that I picked up recently. It appears unshot and has no maker makings nor serial number. It does have the US over 1847 stamped on the right side. It reads...
I enjoy shooting my 1860's black powder Manhattan(Colt copy) pistol and my Springfield Navy rolling block in 45-70 cal that is also black powder. It is such fun at the range when spectators stand down wind!
My Sharps 1874 45-70 cal Billy Dixon buffalo rifle with a full length 6X brass scope. It hasn't seen long distance yet since our local ranges are only 200 yds-Damn!
I just received an envelope w/ a new card but the lifetime offer was for $500.00, not $300.00. What gives? I'm not offended but how does this work when the NRA varies it's offers??
