Spoke with Winchester and Warne. Confirmed that 3.5” is the correct spacing for a .308 in this rifle. Warne said that Winchester puts the .308 in WSM actions. Apparently SA doesn’t always mean SA cartridges. Thank you to all who replied.

I just purchased a new Model 70 Extreme Weather in .308. The center scope mount holes measure 3.5” (WSM) instead of 3.25” (SA). Is this an issue or do I just need to buy what the gun measures instead of what it “should” be? Thanks

I run Silver Bear when possible, but have not had any issues with Brown Bear when used. Silver Bear is a little easier to spot spent cases for cleanup.
