Alabama2010,
I had built the a bench using the direction from National Reloading Manufacturers Association, the same one you found. What is nice about it is that it is very strudy and I made it 42" high. You make it the height you need for yourself. It is nice that when I an using my RCBS...
kestak,
If the die is a RCBS I would send it to them and let them polish it. I had my .223 die start leaving scratches and sent it to RCBS. They polished it and is like bran new. Only cost was shipping it to them and they even gave me a new locking nut.
I have had my .223 sizing die repolished a couple times, all no charge. A friend says I should buy the Lee dies as they are cheaper. I looked in to it and Lee's warrenty is 2 years, RCBS lifetime. For a couple $ it will be RCBS for me. They have always be very nice to work with. Great customer...
+1 on thr RCBS. I use the standard one and have not had any problems with it. I load .223 and .44 with it. Yes you have to jiggle the primers sometimes so they will drop in to the tool to be seated. I just usually tilt a little so that the primmer tray is such that the primmers drop in easy.
jagugator,
I load .223 also and had purchased a Lee shellholder, that is all that was available at the time. I did not have a problem with shell sliding in, but did have a problem with using it with my RCBS hand primer. The shellholder would not slide down far enough over the small primmer...
I guess that since I load with a RCBS Rock Chucker I have not had problems loading compressed loads. I have loaded more than 1,000 rounds using Varget with both 77 and 80gr bullets. I feel the Varget is a great powder with tempeture no affecting it very much.
I built this from the National Reloaders Manuf. Assoc. plans. It is very sturdy and feel hardly any movement will I size brass. When I load shotgun I attach the board the the loader is attached to by C-clamps. I have not installed the sliding doors as I need to order the double tack for the doors
dadof 6,
I have been loading .223 for several years and have loaded more than a 1,000 rounds with both Federal and Winchester primers. My son shoots in JR High power matchs here in NC. I have not had any problems so far with the newer Winchester's. The Federal I have are the Gold Metal.
Build the Rock,
I built one of these, http://www.shotgunsportsmagazine.com/downloads/bench_plans.pdf, and am very happy with it. I do not have it attached to the wall and does not move around. I have not added the doors yet, but will we I buy the door tracks.here is a picture of the bench...
You can pull the case out by drilling and tapping. You may find that you have scratched the die. If so send it back to RCBS and they will polish it free. If you do not want to pull the case out, they will remove it and polish it free of charge. Great service that RCBS provides as part of the...
I have been reloading shotgun since the mid 70's. Took up metallic reloading about a year ago. My son shoots on a Jr. High Power team and there coach did the reloading. He had asked it I could reload fo my son if he supplied the power, primers and bullets. I said I would, bought an RCBS press and...
