    lengthening chambers

I don't know if it was originally chambered for 2 3/4, but I suspect that it was. The uncle that gave it to me is deceased, and he wasn't a serious shooter, and doubt he shot it much, but I don't know how long he owned it. I doubt he had it re-chambered. Would a gunsmith be able to tell?

    lengthening chambers

Hmmm..my ancient (1920's) Springfield s/s 16 gauge is chambered for 2 3/4. I inherited it from my uncle and have fired just two rounds thru it, 2 3/4 (2 1/2 DR.EG, whatever that means)1 oz.shot, #6. Am I asking for trouble?

    firing an 80 yr-old shotgun

I hadn't thought about the possibility that it would only take 2 9/16 shells. When I first fired it a few years ago, I used 2 3/4...they fit flush and worked fine.

    The Marlin 39 Club

I have read thru some of the posts on this thread...perhaps this question has already been raised: What was the production ratio of carbines to mounties? I'm assuming the value of the mountie would be greater than a carbine of similar vintage and condition.

    The Marlin 39 Club

I bought my brand new 39a in Riverton WY. I recalled it being 1969, but the serial number is 7134, so I guess it was actually '71. I was living in Salt Lake City at the time and I used it for plinking on the desert and for jackrabbit hunting. Its in cherry condition, and I probably haven't fired...

    firing an 80 yr-old shotgun

I recently inherited my uncle's ancient Springfield 16 ga s/s, and would like to hunt grouse/pheasants with it. I have fired it a couple of times and seems OK. Other than staying with lead shot, is there anything I should be concerned about other than routine maintenance? The stock has a...

replacement stock for old Springfield 16 ga.

no model number just "Springfield Arms Co., Chicopee Mass". Its a side-by-side. Thanks...i'll check numrich. edit: I checked Numrich. They have the stock, but model number is apparently important. I can't assume its a model 311. Is the model number hiding where I can't see it?

Colt .22 mag Frontier Scout nickel plated

Thank you, RC. Why didn't I think of that? The barrel, hammer, and cylinders are steel. The rest is aluminum.

Colt .22 mag Frontier Scout nickel plated

Hello: I'm new to this forum. I have a Colt .22 Frontier Scout Nickel plated with the extra magnum cylinder ser#377XX K that I bought new in Utah in 1968 for around $100. I never realized until now that the regular model was a cast aluminum. Would this also be true of the nickel plated model...
