Which SWC 45 bullet to get from MBC?

Kat, You will need to get 830fps minimum to meet IDPA PF, that will give you PF 166, too close to the wire for me. A friend just chrono'd a 200gr LRN with 5.0gr BE for about PF 168, I advised him to increase to 5.2gr. I load 200gr LSWC with 5.5gr AA #2 and get PF 175 without excessive recoil...

    what happened to this round?

This is a badly flowed primer. This is usually caused by overloading the powder charge for the case, probably a reload. I would just throw away the case, there may be other problems with it. Bill

    loading 9 & 40

In my loading for 40 S&W for my Springfield EMP I found that AA #7 gave more blast and recoil than other powders. I use AA# 5 or Win 231 (HP-238) in 40 now. Bill

45acp case damage, new reloader, help

Besides, an oversized firing pin stop will not hurt, it can only help reliable ejection.

    Shipping Powder

As far as Sportsman's Warehouse pricing on powders. At our local store a 4# jug of powder costs the same as 4 1# Cans, Same for the 8# jugs. I just don't see the savings of buying in bulk. Bill

    .41 mag 95 grain cast

I would recommend that you start at the starting load for the 215gr. 20gr difference in bullet weight is not much. Just start there and work up to the desired load, either most accurate of best velocity. One caveat to this would be if you are using Win 296 or H-100. Those powders do not do...

    Powder and bullet loads

You are probably right if he is referring to 38 Special loads, but he did specifically state 357 Mag cases, so I was not sure what he meant exactly. Also Accurate lists some 38 Special +P loads that do exceed 1000fps, although not over 1200fps. Bill

Some in laws are better than others, much much better

So Rafterman, reading your post I understand that you loaded 5.4gr of green dot and the data you found listed 5.4gr of green dot as a maximum load? You need to go back and re-read those manuals a couple of more times. All responsible manuals clearly state that you either use a starting load...

    .40S&W Ranier180gr/Hodgdon HP-38 data

Agree with MOST of what you said, But wouldn't the starting load for a Lead bullet be less than a Jacketed one? Lead bullets are easier to push down the bore. OOPs I didn't read your post correctly, you stated the Max would be higher. I never considered that. Bill

    10MM Loads??

billybob, I went out to fire some test loads for my 44 Mag Carbine. It was 10 degrees with 20 mph wind, 6 inches of snow on the ground. Only shot 25 rounds, but succeeded in proofing my new loads. When you live in this climate, you just have to endure. ;) Bill in Idaho

    Reloading issues with 45 Colt

Huntincowboy, Anything from RCBS, Lyman or Hornady would be good quality, but most of them will be > $100 for the press. Midway has the RCBS Partner single stage press for $79 and they also have a $10 rebate. As for dies, RCBS, Hornady and Redding all make quality dies, though they are more...

    10MM Loads??

Missouri Bullet Company "Steeler" 200gr TCFP Don't forget that MBC has the .401 200gr TCFP BHN-18 on their website. Brad is a 10mm shooter and he really likes this bullet. Bill

    Powder and bullet loads

The powders are fine, but for +P Loads you might do better with the MBC 357s in Bhn 18 hardness. BHN 12 will be a little soft over 1000 FPS. Brad has a good explanation of which hardness to use on the Missouri Bullet web site. Bill
