Is s&w still making the sigma series?

If those are improved triggers I shudder to think about what the original triggers must have been like.

Is s&w still making the sigma series?

We sell the "new" version at the shop, great seller because of the price but the trigger has to be one of the worst abominations ever foisted upon the public by a firearms company. Absolutely atrocious!

    Laminated Hand Gun Permit

Don't know about smaller permits anytime soon here in Washington. The format changed slightly about six months ago or so, and i guess it could change again, anything is possible. I look at perhaps a half dozen permits each day (gunshop) and am amazed at the number of virtually destroyed hints...

Why no bolt gun in 7.62x39 ,or 5.45×39mm?

Um, actually, Savage does make a 7.62x39 bolt action. As does CZ, as does Zastava (imported under various names, Charles Daly, Remington, and others, as well as their own currently). Ruger has made such in the past, as already reported, and there have been a few odd ball sporter rifles out of...

    Thinking about a 1911 in 10mm. Suggestions?

Check out Fusion Firearms. A bit spendy, but well worth it. They build longslide 10mm 1911, which I have always considered to be the best way to handle that cartridge in that design.

Report on my new Para USA Commander....

I probably won't continue using the factory mags, as I prefer the Metalform mags. The factory mags look cheapish, and as reported, one already gives me issues. Not a terribly uncommon situation with a 1911. Para stopped using the 3-piece extractor two years back (thank goodness!), so my only...

Interesting Find: Very Early Chief Special

It has an I-frame style "round" trigger guard as well, rather than the later oval/egg guards of the J series. Very cute, but you can buy a clean Terrier so configured for quite a bit less than 1/2 that price. Who cares if it is a .38 S&W, it would look the same....almost.

Report on my new Para USA Commander....

First of all, a few details. The Paras marked Expert Commander are all 2013 production. These feature forged stainless slides, along with forged aluminum frames. The barrels are advertised as match stainless (ooh, ah) and appear nicely made, with a good match to the ramp. The stainless slides...

    Good buddy gifted me today....

He is a real good friend, and very concious of the efforts of those around him. I just never thought my efforts stood out that much. Apparently he thinks otherwise. The way I see it I can simply try to be the same friend I have always been....and buy him lunch and beer often! :p I must say...

    Good buddy gifted me today....

.......a Beta C-Mag, new in the box! :what: We had talked a few days ago about getting a table at the next gunshow to sell off some "excess" guns and goodies. I asked what kind of stuff he wanted to move, and he allowed as how he had over a dozen Beta C-Mags, new in the box! Needless to...

    Metric to caliber conversion

Some pretty interesting information, but I need to point out that not only did the .44 American use a heeled bullet its case is NOT the parent of the .44 Russian, Special, or Magnum. It is actually a bit smaller in diameter, and to properly make cases for it nowadays requires the use of cut down...

Would you use Flitz in this situation?

Okay, on a lark I figured I would put this to a test. Just received a NIB American Tactical FX45, which is a Philipine made Commander clone. It is (was!) very nicely finished in a black matte that is ever so slightly "toothy". For quite a few years I have wanted to try my hand at ageing a...

Why isn't maple used in more shotgun/rifle stocks?

Read post #20, where I wrote about a two piece myrtlewood stock on a shotgun.

Why isn't maple used in more shotgun/rifle stocks?

I purchased an extremely fancy Myrtlewood stock from the old Fajen outfit about 25 years ago, cut to fit an Ithaca 37. It was truly gorgeous, and never exhibited any issues with moving, checking, or cracking in the ten or so years I owned it. The current owner reports no problems either. It...

Would you use Flitz in this situation?

I would clean it really well (toothbrush, cleaning rod, Hoppes or whatever you prefer)then rub it down with Renaissance Wax. If you do not want to invest in Renaissance Wax, after cleaning apply an expremely light coat of RIG and rub it in well. I have used Flitz for years and don't like...
