    my 17-8 is made in 1988 . It has 4 inch barrel. Looks like the model 18 that it replaced ---but it is a model 17 and is so marked.

    S&W Shield

    what a great post, thank you for standing tall about the Shield 9. You have got a nice looking rig. I carry mine year round along with an airweight 442 for backup.
