    Where the birds are

.17 centerfire does seem a bit extreme for a quail. I don't have a need for a gun of this caliber. Why do people use this round? I think the 7.62x39 gun (a mak90) will work fine if I go after coyotes or javalina. Crossbow ammo seems quite expensive. It would get destroyed hitting the ground on...

    Where the birds are

FUNNY laws in this state. I cannot take quail with an airgun, but I can use a slingshot if I use shot in it. I cannot us a .22lr or .22mag but I can use a .17 centerfire. Damn. Those Gambels must be tough suckers. For the record, I can use a crossbow. I'll have to look into that. It can be used...

    Where the birds are

I'LL call game and fish tomorrow. I looked up baiting in the regs too. The only mention of baiting is in regards to bear. I'll ask for a written clarification, since this is ambiguous in the regs. I've started target practice on cans when they are feeding to get them used to the sound of the...

    Where the birds are

I ordered a .22 folding stock AK 47 model from compasseco. It wouldn't fire so I sent if back cocked with a pellet in the breach. A friend got the same rifle a few years ago and he sniped of rabbits and ground squirrels. Used a red dot scope and either got a head shot or missed. The bunnies...

    Where the birds are

Hi all, I live in Arizona and am getting very interested in hunting quail. Here's the deal. I want to use a .22 airgun in an area behind my house. I can't discharge a firearm in the neighborhood. The hunting regs state that rabbit and other small game may be taken with an air rifle. It say...

Ever have someone make fun of your guns at the range?

I love good, cheap guns - why pay more? Guns that cost twice as much as mine, certainly don't perform twice as well. Yeah, I'd think twice about making comments about peoples hardware at the range. Not too smart.

Headcount and other details. . The range opens at 7:00 and it will be dark enough at that time to see a decent fireball on your carbines. Much less bright after 7:30. Probably will be around 40 deg. I will be in cold weather gear for sure. If it's too windy or wet the range will close. Come...

Cool beans. Looks like more than a few folks want in on the party. And this thread has only been up one day. It would be awesome to march into Ben Avery with a dozen of us toting rifles and cases of ammo. The noise will be terrific! :fire: When all the other shooters have packed up in disgust...

For info on all variants of the nm rifle go to: http://www.7.62x54r.net The.311 bullet is available in various weights for your reloading pleasure. The same slugs can be used in either the .303 or 7.62x54r brass. There are probably a few threads dealing with this. I just use dirty surplus...

Sunday, January 14th would work for me too. Big 5 stores are a decent place to look. They are a bit cagey and won't want to show you a lot of stock. If you don't like the one example of the gun they have out, be assured they have dozens in the back room. Use your powers of persuasion. I got...
