IDPA cover garment question for a newbie

I didn't intend to get off-topic and/or start a debate so hopefully this dies here, but I will answer your question. Reholstering IWB is 'riskier' than doing it OWB, not that it's unsafe by itself, but there's more risk involved (more clothing to get in the way, skin, etc). While I see a lot of...

IDPA cover garment question for a newbie

I'm definitely going OWB just for the safety aspect of having to reholster so many times.

IDPA cover garment question for a newbie

I've been 'stalking' IDPA for a while and I'm finally going to jump in and give it a go. I just don't know what to do for a cover garment. I really don't want to get a 'shoot me first' vest as I'll never use it in 'real life', but I'm sure my competitiveness is going to kick in so I want to post...

    "Assault Life"...

The Salt Life stickers are everywhere here too. When I travel into the 'upstate' I see a lot of Lake Life and other knockoffs. I found the Assault Life stickers amusing the first time I saw one. On a similar note I've seen 5.56 or 7.63 in the style of the 26.2 or 13.1 running stickers. A little...

    Visit to Gunsite

It was awesome! We were beat every night so we ran out for dinner and then back. Other than the Grand Canyon we didn't do too much sightseeing. There was plenty to see at Gunsite.

    Visit to Gunsite

Thanks. None of us have ever been to AZ (all 'Carolina' boys), so everything will be new to us.

    Visit to Gunsite

My wife booked us a cabin through airbnb there in Paulden (about 1 mile away from Gunsite).

    Visit to Gunsite

I did a search, but most of the results were at least 5 years old, so I thought it would help me to ask this question again. My wife is sending me and a buddy to Gunsite next week for the 5 day Defensive Course (3 gun). I'm wondering if there are other 'must see' activities in the area. We'll be...

    1911 or AR

Or since you're in SC get the PSA 1911/AR combo for $999. I bought 2 sets and I've been impressed with both.

    RMR/etc Cowitness Hype?

Thanks for the advice. I'll check it on my next range trip.

    RMR/etc Cowitness Hype?

I have a RMR on an FNX-45 Tactical. It's a fun range gun. This is the 2nd one I've had as I had to send the first one back to the mfg. Occasionally the red dot goes out. Then after firing another round it will reappear. It doesn't happen too often, but it does happen, so I like the co-witness...

Walk Me Through Your EDC Practice

Like Spats McGee I can't carry in my office. So I put it on in the morning when I get dressed, leave it in my car while I'm in the office, and then back on when I leave. You'll see the repeated advice in this thread and the rest of THR that the more you handle the gun the more chances you have...

The gun you want but never buy even when you can

Same here. I have it on my wish list, but it's HUGE and expensive. I've made an offer an a used one a couple times, but I haven't been willing to pay full price. I have the USP-45T to hold me over.

CCW makes you exempt from background check?

Agree with Warp that sometimes the system is down. My dad and I passed through a Walmart in NC a few years ago on Black Friday. I saw a Sig AR-10 that we were interested in but the NICS system went down so no one could purchase anything at the time. We both had our concealed permits (me SC, my...

CCW makes you exempt from background check?

Hence the word 'new'. No new background check has to be made when you purchase a gun through an FFL as they accept the one that was done when you got your CWP. Or did you mean to quote my post anyway as I don't understand your #1 response either since I listed SC as the state?
