    Favorite 8x57 loads

175gr Sierra and 53 grains of Pro2000MR. Shoots excellent in all three of my modern 8x57's

6.5 Swede Mauser and loading manuals

The 129 would be fine for deer. Taken a couple deer with that bullet in the Swede. It was avg 2750 ft/sec.

    Tikka's are Booorrriiing

It was refreshing. I spent a lot of time dialing in the M700 Classic 8x57; Trigger, striker, Alaska TI stock and bedding. That 8x57 Tikka was box stock and shot like that. The other untuned test loads shot well too. However the Tikka which has a long throat did not like the 150 grain Hornady...

    Tikka's are Booorrriiing

I'm inclined to agree. Attached is a known accurate load in two of my other modern 8x57's. First set sent down range. Untuned to the Tikka loaded in New Nosler cases. All I could say was, "Really?"

    Personal experiences with weighing brass.

I only sort by head stamp and work loads in that particular head stamp. That can vary considerably. Example, the eight different brands of 8x57 brass I have range in weight from 157 grains (Hornady) to 187 grains (PMC).

I have Forester. Ever since the made my 30-40 and 8x57 seaters, it's all I use.

    Reloder 16

Compliments on 2000MR BTW 2000MR has been fantastic in the 8x57mm from 150 grain to 185 grain bullets. Been working with it for a few years now.

    Custom Model 70 featherweight

About 6 months, I thought their customer service was great. I'd use them again. I've heard good things about pacnor

    Custom Model 70 featherweight

Does it still shoot the same after the trigger and bedding job? It was factory ammunition. It will most likely do better with handloaded stuff. I have to agree with Sunray's suggestion about a pressure point after you check the bedding. How's your bench technique. I've owned several M70...

    Incipient Case Head Separation

Hornady Comparator set as someone has already mentioned.

    ruger#3 in 45-70 amazes me.

I added a #1 butt stock to my #3 (30-40). Changes the whole feel and recoil characteristics, for the better, with properly loaded 30-40 rounds up to the Ruger's capability. Since I only changed the butt stock I call it a Ruger 2.5

    Help choosing a Rifle

Sorry friend, that is one of the most bizarre analogies I've heard in a while.

    Three New IMR Rifle Powders!

I wouldnt worry too much about unless you have a caliber with no load data published. Give them a buzz. I had to do that with Alliant when working with Pro-2000mr in the 8x57. They said it ought to work great (lol) and 2000mr was a little slower than RL-15. It gave me a starting point. But...

    Three New IMR Rifle Powders!

IMR has loading data for both those powders in the 30-06 on their website. My choice would be 4451 for the '06. The 8x57, I have a feeling 4166 will be better. Their online load data for 4166/8x57 shows some good starting points.
