Should There Be More Proficiency Test Requirements for CCW?

I think my eyes are bleeding. You're right, it isn't in the Constitution...but neither is instant communication, so what, telephones and the internet are not covered by the First Amendment? You think no one in the 1770's ever threw a coat on over a pistol? Concealed Carry is not a new concept...

Would American troops be better off with semi autos?

Nope. No reason to limit them. Current training is that you better have a good reason for switching from "semi" to "full". Rapid shots in semi-automatic is the norm, for the very reasons you mentioned, but that's no reason to limit the firepower available.

    AR fads

I'll support that fad, even join in whole hog. I'm not sure about this fad thingy...my AR's have 20" pencil thin barrels, one has no rails, and the other one will probably be having it's forend swapped with a PRI pretty soon, because it has just about nothing on the rails anyway.

Biggest "surprise" at your CCW class

That was much more eloquent than I could have managed, thank you sitckhauler. I'll try to remember your first sentence; "A right is something that you can engage in where no compensation for the action is required." Excellent defenition.

Biggest "surprise" at your CCW class

I will. I'd be interested to see how this is considered a "self-evident right" and not a widely accepted privelidge. Sadly, it is. Firearms ownership is no more a "right" in California, for example, than driving is a "right" anywhere else. See what I'm getting at? Unfettered, accepted action...

The Good (LaRue), The Bad (a new Burris XTR-14) and The Ugly (Burris CS)!!

Alright, I see the edit now. All is copesetic. :D

    The Constitution and weapons

My apologies DM, I'm sure I contribute to that degeneration.

    The Constitution and weapons

So let's say that I have a firearm in my barn. Am I no longer keeping and bearing it because it isn't on me or in the house? I think not. The FF's didn't specify how we had to "keep and bear", just that we had the right too, and that right could never be taken away. Whether my neighbor and I...

    Israel announces the Galil "Ace"

Ohhhh...gotcha, I thought it was based upon the R4, but upon further investigation, I find that the R4 is based on the Galil...whoops. I stand (sit) corrected then, thank you! That still makes it a Second Cousin, at best though.

    The Constitution and weapons

Yup, sure does say "keep". As in "Keep and Bear Arms." not "Keep and Bear Arms in your home." According to you, no one is allowed to CC, OC, or go to a range. There was another debate about the use of the word "Bear", whether it meant "hold" or "use". I think "use" is more likely, looking at...

    Israel announces the Galil "Ace"

Not being Israeli myself, I couldn't answer with any authority. However, I do know that SOCOM was looking for something quite similar, and can only postulate that the Israeli's have a similar reason. Only if you consider the Sig 550 to be a Swiss AK. The Galil could be called a second cousin...

Biggest "surprise" at your CCW class

Ninth Amendment, U.S. Bill of Rights: I'm no Constitutional scholar, but I fail to see how this Amendment gaurantees us the "right" to operate a motor vehicle...unless you are implying that driving a car is a "right not denied or disparaged" because it is not listed in the Constitution or...

    Israel announces the Galil "Ace"

Beats the converted Galil's that are hard to find and expensive. It really makes sense, if you think about it. Israel is surrounded by angry states that want to "wipe them off the map" and field AK's, primarily. With the amount of active Special Operations units that Israel fields, why not have...
