What are the top 5 gun friendly states?

I think there are cultural as well as legal aspects to gun friendliness. Open carry is legal in Pa. And Ky., but if you walk around pitsburgh with a gun, it seems to bother people more than walking around Lexington with a gun.

    30-06 for a 13 year old?

At your size you should have no trouble with a 7.62x63mm (or 30-06 as we call it around here). I personally would rather have a shooting vest with a padded shoulder (or a folded up flannel shirt) rather than a recoil pad on the gun. Your mileage (or kilometerage) may vary.

Time to start a new meme about ARs, and other black rifles.

I call them 'rifles'. I might further describe them as 'semiautomatic rifles' or 'rifles that have plastic stocks instead of wooden ones'. I'm honestly not sure what qualifies a thing as an 'assault rifle', and it seems that no one else is exactly sure either. A .308 machine gun is an 'assault...

Examples to use to counter "you couldn't win against a tyrannical gov anyway!"

A porcupine is really no match for a grizzly bear. And yet grizzlies almost always find something else to eat.

    Open carry?

I open carry, pretty often. No one here seems to mind. I think it probably depends a lot on where you are. I wouldn't want to open carry in a very crowded place because someone might steal the pistol. I grew up in a culture where open carry was pretty common buy concealed carry was...

PSA- Please please if you want to appear knowledgeable ...

Context, as Apache said a long ways back. If you're out hunting grouse on the moors and someone is talking about their gun, it's safe to assume they don't mean a self-propelled howitzer. Similarly, if some old document references th clip for a Kalashnikov rifle, you can be pretty sure that they...

    "Sensible Gun Laws"

The last set of 'sensible gun laws' that they tried, the 1994 awb, did nothing. I think the next round might focus on things like tacky pink rifles, sideways shooting pistols, and guns with more than 1 scope, two lasers, or four picatinny rails. Also leverguns with telescoping buttstocks.

Verbage from wm. bennett article on gun rights "John Lott, economist and gun-rights advocate, has extensively studied mass shootings and reports that, with just one exception, the attack on U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona, in 2011, every public shooting since 1950 in the U.S. in...

    Bennet article on gun rights

I think all of us know some people who are not rabidly anti-gun, but maybe a bit gunshy, especially at a time like this. I suggest that we all focus our persuasive efforts on those sorts of people, and use the kind of language present in this article. It's matter of fact and not excessively...

    Bennet article on gun rights

Here is an article on the case for gun rights, by (Reagan era drug czar) William Bennett. It has some good talking points, that might be helpful uf you plan on talking to people about gun rights' importance and relevance to current events.
