    Absolute BEST constructed 1911s

I'm sorry, but based on the requirements the OP mentioned, and many will dispute this, it's the Ruger. Not because I bought one, and not because it's my favorite, but it does not rattle and will not rattle when shot for years. It does not fail to fire. Accuracy was not in the OP's...

    Keep it or not?

Based on a lifetime of losing money when trading guns, keep what you have and wait until you can buy what else you want. It's impossible to come out on a deal with a dealer when trading, and rightfully so. It's their livelihood; they have to make money. But I know how it is to get the...

    Concele Carry Pocket

The OP said .357 hurts. That's why he asked about the nine, or am I reading it wrong? I would much prefer the nine due to energy. Another option would be the new 3" LCR, unless that's too large for the way you carry.

My first armed run in with the police

    Stopped 50times? Good grief.

    Why so ridiculous on EDC?

I Carry my gun and a reload. No light, no knife other than a small leatherman. Mr retirement credentials, billfold and that's it.

    Carry gun for the wife.

I don't like .380's, but I think the Sig 232 is the best of the lot.

    Which M1A's for distance accuracy?

My opinion is that a Springfield M1A is the best rifle ever produced. And to put a scope on one is admitting that you can't see. I'm 67. I can see. I don't compete in matches, but I put my M1A at the top of anyone's list as doing whatever a rifle is meant to do. A scope on an M1A is utterly...

What aspects of shooting do NOT interest you?

I'm in agreement with the OP totally. The only thing else I won't read is how accurate a c/c gun is at 10 feet. It's seems the fad now is to actually measure and report group sizes at ridiculously close distances, which is no test at all of how a pistol or revolver is. One has to do...

    coyote meat is great!

I'm very glad to hear they are edible. I know they need to be eradicated, but I can't bring myself to shoot a critter I don't use. That's my own mental instability at work. I take nothing away from coyote hunters. In days before ours, Indians kept and ate dogs. I wonder if coyotes taste...

    How about a .380

I suppose their are logical reasons to buy or carry a .380. We all can agree a .380 is better than no gun. But I'm not sure we can all agree that we're confident with one. For me, a .380 is the gun I would want if I were in some way too weak to shoot a more powerful weapon. The .380 along...

    Reliability of your EDC

Bob Wright, you're my kind of gun person. I love that .44. You say it was converted from .357, so you probably got it before Ruger came out with the flattops again.

    Police Revolvers w/ 6" bbls?

My dad was a VA trooper. His issued revolver was a 6" Model 10. That's the first fun I ever fired, and the gun I learned with. Back then, in the 50's, the state police range included firing from 60 yards, prone, single action. By the time I joined in 1970, they had gone to 4", both Smiths...

    Ruger SR1911 range review wanted.

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the trigger. It too has settled in. It is perfect, the best I've ever had on a 1911 and that includes a Kimber and a S&W target gun.

I'm getting my new Ruger SBH today!!

If and when you get it, try 10.1 grains of Unique under a 240 grn. jhp. That ain't the most powerful load, not nearly, but out of mine it is unbelievably accurate. I used that load for groundhogs and distance was not a factor; however, I never shot at anything bigger.

    Reliability of your EDC

I'd say you're good to go. Especially with a Sig. When the dept. I retired from went to Sig .357's, I saw to failures in any of the guns. Probably some I didn't know about across the state, but none I heard about. Out of the box, they were reliable. Retirees get to keep their service gun...
