I use quite a few other mfg's other than Dillon on my 550B, but as mentioned, gotta be carefull about straight wall pistol case alignment without the lead bevel base dies. I kinda wiggle/rotate the head a bit when pulling the handle to encourage alignment. Tapered rifle casings are OK, have'nt...
Picked up a like new Herters 27 shotshell reloader on E-bay some time ago and finally have a little time to play with it. A manual (or a helpful THR member) would make things a bit easier to figure out....specifically the sizing sleeve placement and crimping system.
Had a few up here in Northern Wis a couple years ago....DNR was begging folks to erase them but were tough critters to hunt...conventionally...
Now that the wolves have thinned out the deer, maybe they'll switch to pork....
I'm gonna take a lickin as to why I bought a Herters Shotshell press BEFORE asking about shot and powder bushings....but what the heck. Are other mfg. bushings compatible or are they proprietory?
This goes back over 30 years so my memory is fuzzy on the exact recipe, but I loaded 6 or 7 gr of Red Dot behind a 40 grain swaged lead bullet with a gas check. I used a small tuft of Dacron pillow stuffing to hold the powder against the primer, kept the accuracy very consistent. A word of...
Can't find any load data for Remington SP hulls with 9 #00 buckshot pellets. My old Lyman manual has a load for the fiber basewad SP using paper wads but my SP's have a yellow plastic basewad and would prefer to use a plastic wad. Any ideas....pet loads?
Picked up a NIB XD Tactical in .45 GAP on GB for $399, figured it would just be a nightstand dustcatcher til I got a chance to shoot it. It's no National Match shooter, but sure the heck surprised me with three inch/nine round groups from a sandbag at 25 yards the first mag. Shot to POA, and...
My Frankford Arsenal tumbler conked out after a half dozen loads or so also. Took it apart, found the motor stuck. Turned it by hand a couple times to free the shaft and re-assembled it, has been working fine since. Mine was a cheapo, guess you get what you pay for.
Good points about the possible hazards of lead in the dryer. We don't have young ones any longer, but it was probably bad advice to encourage others to do it. Most of the residue should be eliminated, but as others have pointed out, should is a relative term. I stand corrected and modify my...
When mine get grubby, or when I find range brass, I soak 'em in a 50/50 mix of windshield washer fluid and white vinegar for an hour. Rinse in a pair of cheap plastic $1.99 colanders clamped or screwed together to form kind of a ball with holes in it(do not use with food products!!) and throw...
Have been hankering for a .45 ACP for a few years, finally hit the "Buy it Now" on Gunbroker.com last week for what what was advertised as a
".45" Sprngfld XD (dirt cheap). Upon reciept of the gun, found it to be a .45 GAP. Reviewing the auction description revealed GAP in the fine print...
