    Toolbox gun....HiPoint?

When you say tool box I assume you mean the one on your truck? Why not use a couple of self tappers or drill some bolt hole and mount a holster just inside the driver's side of the box? It'll save on wear and tear and help keep it clean too. I have no opinion on the gun, I just don't like...

Brand New 870 WM vs. Vintage WM

I'd personally go with old. They just work so darn smooth and look so classy.

    Mossberg 500 Project

I'm with woodman. As long as it's a fun gun, why not?

    870 Wingmaster, good deal?

I know you said you're going to go back and get it but I thought I would reinforce that. I bought a mossberg 500 as my first shotgun for home defense. Don't get me wrong, it's a very adequate shotgun for any purpose but after shooting my friends older wingmaster I have a bit of buyers remorse...

Does the earth's rotation effect windage, and, or, elevation?

Yes, in very long range shooting. I only know enough about it to say about that much and show you where to look. I'm sure there's an expert around here somewhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/External_ballistics#Coriolis_drift

Newbie's First Shotgun - Norinco vs. H&R Pardner vs Other?

I would vote for saving for an 870 or a 500. The 500 is available at walmart with a 28" bbl (I think) and 3 chokes for $217. A little long for home defense but I'm not a big advocate of the SWAT team tactics if you have a home invasion anyway. Back you and your's into a corner, call 911...

    Gun collection plan

I don't see a shotgun in this plan. IMO the most fun you can have with a firearm comes from the end of a big smoking 12 ga. bore. Cheap to buy, cheap to shoot. Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 make a great place to start for around $300. A bit more for the Remington if you get a decent used...

Ammo prices seem stable in my area

I noticed that the price of the target 12 ga in the 100 rnd. box at Walmart has gone up by a dollar.

Need a new "fun" gun. Suggestions?

Exactly, where is your shotgun? I'd go with a nice older Remington Wingmaster or a Beretta 3901. Both can be had with money to spare from your $700. Go buy some ammo and some clays. Nothings more fun than dusting a clay or a quick flying little dove. Everyone has to have a shotgun. Hell...

    Remington 870P- Lots of Questions

Sounds like a solid setup. I also vote for the bead. My first instinct was to get some big rifle sights on my HD gun until I got it and actually started shooting it a little. Beads are super fast for the shots you would take with that gun. Big dot sounds cool though. I'm going to check that...

    Home defense

Here's mine. I'm looking for a light for it this weekend, something with a pressure switch that will mount to that rail on the forend. My strategy (wife, no kids, bedroom on second story) is to step outside my bedroom door and cover the stairs as my wife dials 911. As someone decides to come...

just picked up a beautiful old 1100 last week...

Geez, you said sales tax. So you bought it for $200 at a shop? That's a somebody needs money fast price around here. Good find, beautiful gun.

Picked up a Beretta S55 at the gunshow

Thanks for confirming the chokes clang. I was looking at a chart someone had earlier posted and I started to get a little confused about it. I would assume most situations would have me firing the bottom barrel first but it does have the switch to choose which barrel I use. Capstick, I...

Picked up a Beretta S55 at the gunshow

Oh geez. It took me all day to realize how the trigger on it works. Sooo... I don't have to manually select the second barrel from the selector on the safety. Gawd I feel a little stupid now. That should make my second shot a whole lot easier than I'd thought it would be.

Picked up a Beretta S55 at the gunshow

I'd say it's an inaccuracy on my part oneounce. I'm going to grab the correct tool and check it tomorrow if I have time but you're right, it's academic. I need to get out and shoot it again. I'm going to go through the shop and see if I can find enough pieces to put together a patterning...
