    Ruger .44 mag carbine

I thought about one on those for hunting too. I'm a big fan of the 10 22 so thought it would be a nice addition. Sight lines here in the north Georgia mountains are typically short and we hunt deer, wild hog and coyotes. Ballistically there is little difference between 44mag from a carbine and a...

    7.62x54R Loads

I agree on the heavier bullets. I have not tried lighter weight bullets, but it sounds as though some are having success with them. I wouldn't think they would have a high enough BC for long range performance. The pinnacle of long range accuracy seems to be the 200 grain Lapua D166 and all the...

    Range report on reloads

I've fired his, it is definitely a handfun so to speak. I'm not a revolver guy, I prefer small semis, so firing his is like firing a cannon. He's obviously used to it considering his range and groups, but you almost limp wrist the thing to keep it from beating the crap out of you, which for a...

    Range report on reloads

I wouldn't worry about the pistol. I have a friend who casts 310 grain bullets for one of those and runs a compressed load of H110 behind it. I've also seen him hit 14 inch steels with it at 100 yards. IIRC the chrony put them at 1760fps mv.

    9mm loads for Sub2000

Had lunch with the machinist today, got a couple of partial cans to work up and check out. Unique, Blue Dot, and HP 38.

    9mm loads for Sub2000

Thanks for the info guys. I'm so new to the reloading game that I'm expecting my equipment today. ;) Ok, first the Glock in question is a model 33. For those of you who speak Glock you'll be thinking "wait, that's a 357 sig" and you'd be right. but right now it has a 9mm Wolf barrel and...

    9mm loads for Sub2000

Looking for some ideas for loading 9mm for use from a 16 inch barrel. Chrono' d a few production loads with the Subby and a subcompact Glock, the 147 grain Speer Lawman was actually slower out of the Sub than the pistol. What I am looking for is something that will push a heavy bullet and take...

    7.62x54r

This is what I'm looking for. Nice thing is with hand loading you can end up with the "perfect" length bullet and speed to work the twist rate. Thanks guys, I suspect you've already saved me a bunch of time. Some ranges prefer soft point ammo for use on steels to prevent damaging the targets or...

    7.62x54r

The rifle in question is modified. The barrel has been cut to 22 inches and it has a JP recoil eliminator on it so reduced load is not an issue. I'm looking for range approved soft points in the best weight and speed for groups to 400+ yards. As it is I've post 7 inch groups at 400 yards with...

    7.62x54r

Anyone done it? Just got my press and most of my equipment ordered, mostly for 9mm. But I shoot quite a bit of the Russian and considered picking up some reloadable brass for longer range target use. Any good recipes out there?

    Understanding The Ammo Shortage

Well I'm not afraid to say I use the shortage to my advantage. I've made a few hundred dollars on ammo sales in the past few months. I own a business that usually gets really busy during tax return season but this year it didn't. I'm making grocery money. It's like any other commodity. You can...

Stop Buying Ammo For a Month...

Haven't bought any in a while except for 7.62x54r which seems to immune. Needed a new freezer so I sold 3 bicks of 22 on GB for a conbined $311. What I'm more surprised by is the price o "assault weapons". Fineswine's bill got thrown out, there is no AWB, at least for now. I've been watching a...

Could YOU fire a bolt-action that fast?

I've seen it done a few times, and by teenagers at that. On occasion you will so a tube fed bolt 22 on the line at an Appleseed event. There is one stage where you start standing and have 50 seconds to drop to a seated or kneeling position and put 10 rounds on target. With a centerfire rifle...

    1st 10/22 build recommendations!

Yes. It is not quite as tight as my target rifle with the Majestic barrel on it but it is certainly minute of squirrel out past 75 yards and is wonderful to carry at that weight. I've come to really appreciate the factory stainless barrel. If you want to build a taget one do that with a...

    1st 10/22 build recommendations!

No doubt about that. Listen, I have that stainless carbine with a Blackhawk Axiom stock on it, with the Simmons 3x9 and a rifle strap it comes in at just over 5 pounds and is excellent for a carry rifle in the woods. It is my lowest cost rifle and the one I tend to grab first. If you go...
