No peaceable journey laws?
I'm moving back to Indy this weekend after an extended visit to IL. My permit expired in 9/2007 and now I'm a little worried. Can't wait to renew the permit though.
Reloading Calculator
If you haven't seen this before, here is a reloading costs calculator:

Also consider that you will generally be able to reload pistol brass many more times than rifle brass. Always check brass for cracks and splits...
Some how I doubt you're using that for defense purposes. :) The Norma brass I use for my K31 is pretty salty as well.
I thought I found THE rifle today, until I saw the price tag. $829 for a Mini-14 GB w/ flash suppresor.

I'm with ya 100%!
I LOVE the concept of a Mini-14. It's one of the best looking rifles (IMHO) with the best warranty.
You give me a Mini with:
Consistent 2MOA
$15 20rd mags
Flash suppressor (1X28 thread)
a nice neat pile of warm brass 2ft to the right of me
and I'll give...
Armed Bear,
I'm sorta kinda familiar with the shotshell reloading process. My biggest reason to not load for the 12ga is the cost of lead shot.
Field loads seems to be cheaper to buy than reload ($20/100 @Wally World). I could recover some costs by reloading 00 and 4 buck, but I...
For the past 5 yrs, I've used my shotgun for everything from hunting to home defense. It does everything I need inside of 75 yds. With ammo prices the way they are (60 cent-per-round buckshot/slugs), gonna have to switch to a rifle I can reload for (im not interested in purchasing a 12ga...
I can see the logic behind banning the Akins device, but disagree based on principle.
The "shoelace" method I am not familiar with. Best guess is that anyone with a pair of Nikes and semi-auto rifle could be charged with intent to manufacture a machine gun. :)
I had to Google this "Trigun" business to see what you guys were talking about.
Here's a replica of the gun. It goes for $169 US.

Great Caesar's Ghost, man! Leave that Mateba be.
This guy worked (or may still be working) at a gun shop I used to visit. I never really took him as the mall-ninja type.
The whole concept of bump-firing is kinda silly. It's a great way to get attention on the range ( or the Internet ).
<IMO>
I'm stuck on the whole rifle deal. ARs feel like toys to me and for the most part have to be kept clean. Minis have problems with accuracy and expensive/hard to find mags.
You get a mini-14 with a heavy barrel (consistent 1-2 moa accuracy) with $20 Ruger factory hi-cap mags and I...
