What gunsmithing or repairs have you done today

New acquisition (French Railway Police issued SP101 in .38special): Installed an XS Big Dot front sight Cleaned/polished the internals Rounded the trigger as it had sharper edges, now it feels like my S&W Next up is installing new hammer/trigger shims as well as updating the springs.

    What did you shoot today?

.38 Special wadcutter development testing today, chasing loads that are close to the factory loads that I have on hand... I think I found them. Nice to have my Garmin Xero C1 sitting next to me recording each shot sequence 😍

What gunsmithing or repairs have you done today

Not necessarily gunsmithing, more of an experiment when it's cold & windy outside and I have too much time to think about things. I attempted to tape off my front sight on a revolver after degreasing it and applied some of the powder coat that I use to create shiny gold speckled fishing jig...

Trooper Upgrade; Snowing all day here...

Thx much for that tip, I used some older Russian steel cased rimfires for the test; I thought that if the lighter hammer spring ignites the primer compound in these it will certainly do it in brass... I did try a few brass ones and they went pop too :alien:

Trooper Upgrade; Snowing all day here...

...in Colorado  So I decided to update the hammer & trigger return springs in my Trooper Mark III .22 It appears that this revolver hasn't been taken apart since it left the factory as the lubricant on various parts had turned into a sticky varnish-like consistency :uhoh: After cleaning...

A Friend got me into reloading, however: The ability to shoot more often I really noticed this during the plandemic as there seemed to be a shortage during that time period, I'd often had the range to myself Not worrying about ammo shortages Tailoring accurate loads to your firearms...

What have you done in the reloading room today

Today I held reloading class 2.0 for my close friends that have taken an interest in learning. The husband/wife team & my elderly acquaintance came over during the holidays, they brought their own powder/primers/bullets. I had cleaned brass from our last shooting sessions and had them prep the...

Colorado 3 day waiting period for private party sales?

In Colorado we have to do a private seller to private seller at an FFL; once the paper work has been completed we then have to wait a full three days before we're able to pick up our firearms. I've noticed that the fees are going up at most places from even a year ago, one of my favored places...
