New acquisition (French Railway Police issued SP101 in .38special):
Installed an XS Big Dot front sight
Cleaned/polished the internals
Rounded the trigger as it had sharper edges, now it feels like my S&W
Next up is installing new hammer/trigger shims as well as updating the springs.
.38 Special wadcutter development testing today, chasing loads that are close to the factory loads that I have on hand... I think I found them. Nice to have my Garmin Xero C1 sitting next to me recording each shot sequence 😍
Not necessarily gunsmithing, more of an experiment when it's cold & windy outside and I have too much time to think about things.
I attempted to tape off my front sight on a revolver after degreasing it and applied some of the powder coat that I use to create shiny gold speckled fishing jig...
Thx much for that tip, I used some older Russian steel cased rimfires for the test; I thought that if the lighter hammer spring ignites the primer compound in these it will certainly do it in brass... I did try a few brass ones and they went pop too :alien:

So I decided to update the hammer & trigger return springs in my Trooper Mark III .22
It appears that this revolver hasn't been taken apart since it left the factory as the lubricant on various parts had turned into a sticky varnish-like consistency :uhoh:

I've used this tool with great success to keep the cylinder chambers relatively free of carbon fouling when using .38spcl in my .357 revolvers. I do clean after every range outing...
A Friend got me into reloading, however:
