It's not, it's just an example of how stupid the rules are. The rifles are both semi-auto .223, functionally the same, but one looks oh-so-evil, and it's a legal nightmare here in Cali to own one.

I'd like to see them try and ban the wooden pretty ones, that way every gun owner in the country would finally wake up and fight. Hunters need to realize that we are not that far from having a ban on everything except bolt action sporting rifles, and those may not be far behind.
