HATS OFF to Missouri Bullet Co.

I spoke to quick in my above post. I got email notice that my order is shipped. Got the email about same time I posted here. Just one week wait, not bad at all with all the shortages there are. Great service from MBC. Great product. trikerider

HATS OFF to Missouri Bullet Co.

Been real lucky here with fast deliveries from them, until this last order a week ago. Guess I finally hit when they were out. Ordered 250 and 255 gr. .452 and have heard nothing about ship date yet. Luckily, I don't need them right away anyway so no big problem. trikerider

    Update on unburned universal powder

Had several different loads made up. Some with new brass, some with used. Loaded 7.5gr and 8.0gr. Had some with no resize(new brass), and with regular sizing. All had heavier crimp than I was using before. I did shoot these through my flattop rather than the large frame blackhawk I used...

    Unburned powder granules in reloads?

I don't see much when I use Unique. I will try going to 8.0 gr. Universal and a heavier crimp and see what happens. I am using the Lee FCD. 8.0 should still be ok in my Lipsey flattop. Will give it a try, anyway. trikerider

    Unburned powder granules in reloads?

Might be the ash left over, but I don't really like it, will be getting inside innards. It is shape of the universal powder, but is brownish in color, not same color as powder going in cases.

    Unburned powder granules in reloads?

In 45 colt, using 7.5 gr Universal under 250 rnfp and 255 SWC and getting a fair amout of unburned powder when taking spent shells out. Looks a brownish color. To light a load, not heavy enough crimp, what migh be causing this? trikerider

    45 colt and Universal

Just loaded up some test loads with 7.4 and 7.9 gr under 255 gr MBC SWC for my 2 Blackhawks. This is a very nice metering powder. I was way off on my powder measure using Unique, but this Universal is great for loading. If it shoots as good as it meters, I may use it a lot. trikerider

    45 colt loads?

Fatcpa, I have a bunch of them loaded just as you have and they have shot pretty good. I have a few at 8.0 I want to try yet. trikerider

45 colt pressures with universal and unique?

BossHogg, by the older ones I meant ones like the original Colts that can't take very hot loads, 14000 range. My Lipsey is mediun frame, the 357 frame, which I thought could go to 20,000 or close to it. I also have a large frame Blackhawk if I want to shoot the hotter loads, over 20,000. thx...

45 colt pressures with universal and unique?

What are the pressure levels for the medium frame vs large frame blackhawks? I see 14,000, 20,000 and upwards of 25,000 for the large frame. Where is the limit for the medium frame, 14,000 or 20,000? The older revolvers have 14,000 and newer ones have 20,000 limit? I have a new Lipseys flattop...

    45 colt loads?

ArchAngelCD, what I was trying to say is I don't like to load when the bullet weights don't match. They were using 250 gr and rnfp. Maybe that not a big change for you, but I haven't loaded for 25 years until just the last year or so and not that long for the 45 colt that I feel comfortable...

    45 colt loads?

Yes, been there, but only one load. Surely more than that. I have some like that in my loading books, but are slim. Looking for what range others are shooting, although I don't want to get wild with unknown loads. trikerider

    45 colt loads?

Anyone have some good medium loads for 45 colt, using MBC 255 gr SWC and Universal Clays powder? I know its close to Unique, but can't find any loads in any books I have for it with 255 gr. I have a Ruger Lipsey, medium frame and a Bisley Blackhawk, large frame I want to shoot them in. trikerider
