Wow, that is some dang fine shooting for a charcoal burner. Or for any kind of rifle for that matter.

Your thoughts on trading an M1A for 2 or 3 mini-14s

I don't have an M1A, but I do have a CMP M1 rifle. I have owned a mini 14 in the past. Most of the guns I have sold, I have wished I would have just saved up and bought the new gun, the exception being the mini 14. In fairness, mine was an older model, but it was possibly the most aggravating...

Loading the Ruger 77 in 7x57 Mauser

I hear you. Ruger rifles can be very frustrating. I have 4, and they are all capable of very good accuracy, but the standard deviation between great loads and poor loads is very high. My favorite varmint rifle is a #1V in .223, and I went through at least 500 rounds before I found the magic...

This is a Savage 12FV with a Bell and Carlson stock, 4-16 Burris Signature scope in Signature rings. It likes this load a lot ;)

Advice for Reloading for 270 Winchester

I have had the best results with 130 gr. ballistic tips and 4350. My Remington likes H4350. I tried some AA4350 in my son's Ruger M77, and it was fantastic. 3 shots at 100 yards less than a half inch. Next time I will try it in my Remington.

    Ruger No.1 25-06

I've only personally used Partitions in heavier calibers. I have only recovered one, from a bison, that went through about 3' of the animal and stopped under the skin on the far side. It was a 250 gr. .338, and mushroomed beautifully. I have never recovered a bullet from an elk; they go all...

    Hornady Brass?

I had someone look at it and they found that the front scope ring had become loose. When it fell out of the truck, the scope must have been knocked loose. I went and shot it again yesterday and found no real difference between LC and Hornady brass.

    Hornady Brass?

OK, I think I know what has happened. Last time I took this gun to the range, it fell out of the truck onto the barrel in an asphalt driveway. It left a little smudge at the outside of the end of the barrel. I am guessing that I deformed the end of the barrel slightly and that is making the...

    Superformance Powder and SOOTY Brass?!

I'll second the vote for IMR4064. It seems to be the most accurate powder I have used in .308, with Reloader 15 a close second. Even my M1 .30-06 and my .22-250 love 4064. Very versatile.

    Hornady Brass?

I have reloaded for some other cartridges extensively with commercial brass. My Remington .270 gives spectacular accuracy with certain combinations of bullet/powder/primer using casings from Winchester, PMC, and Remington. I can mix and match and it doesn't really care. Most of my .22-250...

    Hornady Brass?

The LC is between .0165" and .0170" and the Hornady varies from .0165" to .0195" depending on where I measure. I always wanted an outside neck turner.

    Hornady Brass?

I don't have a problem. I can shoot LC brass all day long and never load another piece of Hornady brass again as long as I live. It seems very plain that LC brass is giving me decent accuracy and Hornady is terrible. I have never loaded Hornady brass in any other cartridge, so I was hoping to...

    Hornady Brass?

I have a Ruger Hawkeye stainless laminated in .308 that I have been developing loads for. I glass bedded and free floated it, and cut a few coils off the trigger spring and the trigger is now pretty reasonable. Almost all the brass I have is Lake City. I found a load that is pretty accurate...

How many of you load near or at max

I am very careful about going over max, and only do this under certain conditions. For example, I have a .270 that has a very long throat and magazine. My loaded rounds are about .2" longer than SAAMI. This gives me a lot more case capacity, and I do go over max loads with slow powders like...

    Handloads at indoor range

What you have to look at is the total cost of shooting. If a range had a "no reloads, you have to use our ammo" policy it still might be a better deal than a range that allows you to shoot your own depending on their ammo cost, range fees, and how many rounds you intend to shoot. You just have...
