Sorry to hear about your bad luck. In a half a dozen PSA Classic LPKs I have never had and issue.

My newer 700 BDLs are wonderful firearms. The quality and workmanship is excellent. The are more accurate than my pre 64 M70 30-06, which is also a fine gun. I hunt with them all, but my favorite gun to hunt with is my Rem 788 in 308 and would take another one of the over the 700 or M70.

Interesting question. I have a pre 64 M70 30-06, and a couple newer 700 BDLs. What were the distinguishing characteristics of the older BDLs?

That is a great point about firearm companies not sharing their defect rates. I was surprised about Taurus's total sales being so high. In my opinion the quality of their product for the price represents a value to a lot of people. Interesting topic. Thanks.

Just wanted to add that there is a lot less powder residue with CFE Pistol compared to Unique. It also meters better than Unique. I can keep it within +/- 0.025 with my RCBS unions powder measure.

Loaded and tested 6.0, 6.2, and 6.4 gn of CFE with 230 gn 45 acp, zero JHP, COAL of 1.20". All test rounds fired well out XDS and 1911. The 6.4gn rounds chrono'd at 840 f/s with the 1911, and 794 f/s with the XDS. I may test a 6.5 gn round, but overall I am pretty happy with the 6.4.
