    Cowboy Carbines

    38spl is used in SASS for low recoil and faster follow up shots and cost, old time cowpokes used the 44-40 in both as Winchester refused to use a straight wall case (45colt/ in the lever actions. Lever guns in 45colt get very dirty, 44-40/38-40 is tapered and seals better= cleaner action.

    SKS or a Mosin

    SKS's, got my Chi-com back when they were cheap and unissued and full of cosmoline, great shooter and it's never let me down. Yugo 59/66, mismatched parts but only cost $100 has some issues (stovepipe) and it's got the new gas valve, still fun to shoot. Had 2 M-44's, fun to shoot but sold them

    Why not shoot steel cased ammo in an AR?

    Last range trip gun show reloads using LC brass looked like shotgun patterns, and Silver Bear was match ammo next to that crap. No more gun show reloads for me, and need a case of the S.B. 62gr HP's. Rifle used DPMS AP-4A.

    PMC vs. Aguila .223/5.56

    PMC 223 is lower cost ammo works good in my DPMS, it's dirty (no worse than Wolf) underpowered compared to 5.56, and smells like s^%&. Their pistol ammo is not bad.
