I'm with Twisted Chemist on this issue. But one potential advantage of a slightly protruding light is providing "stand off" so the firearm doesn't go out of battery if in a wrestling for the weapon scenario. I've seen ads for at least one pistol with this "feature" built in as a protrusion at...
Before you sing the praises of green lasers or green red dots, can you pick them up against a lush green background? At the range I love the greens, but in the field unless everything is dry and brown red is easier to find on the target.
I was an early adopter of red dots on carry pistols circa 2006
IMHO the best place to start is this article from American Rifleman, it has a nice table of what sights have which footprints, although the article is old enough now that not everything will be listed...
For me it is Polish surplus 7.62x25 ammo from the 50s. It is almost as old as I am, I've had no issues with it, shot four spam cans of it, still have a couple left.
Two submitted Friday May 12th, a few hours apart had control numbers 684 apart. The second form was approved Tuesday July 25th by Kristan Miller. No news about the first one yet, but only like 75 days so far for it I used a "roll your own" fingerprint card kit from Amazon.
Don't know if it is relevant but the Garand safety is inside the trigger guard so having the gun on safe and finger in the trigger guard is "maximum readiness".
I've got a 9mm AK that takes Glock mags. Other than the mags and caliber it handles exactly like any other AK. Minimal recoil and a lot less expensive to shoot, at our club we can shoot pistol caliber carbines and SBRs at the plate racks.
Of the two people I know who have actually fired a shot at a home intruder, both report never hearing the gun go off. One was a 4" .357 Mag, the other a 5.56 AR 15. Somehow in this stressful situation I doubt the "mushy trigger" will be noticed either.
Both intruders fled, home owners...
Does anyone know if the amnesty brace registrations are proceeding, or have they been put on hold by the lawsuits?
Sent two in on May 12th that quickly went "submitted in process" and I got the pdf cover letters and mailed in home-rolled print cards that arrived before the ten day deadline...
The main issue with "details" like chevrons and circle dots is they tend to attract your focus to their image which is counterproductive to using a red dot effectively, you have to look "thru" the dot and focus on the target. I do like circle dots because they are so easy to pick up but...
How about some examples of the prosecutions?
Our local news is full of felons caught with firearms again and not prosecuted by either the local DA or the Feds for this. They drop the 10 punishment crime and let them plead to a simple robbery charge and they are out in a year or two if that.
This whole can of worms is why I was miffed the NRA rolled over on the Bump Stock ban. Any semi auto can be bump-fired if your grip is sloppy enough, lays the foundation for outlawing semi-autos. Haven't binary triggers been on some high end skeet guns for a long time?
