    1911 on a $600 budget

RIA. Buy one, use your savings on ammo and ignore the crowd who think it is still 1980 and that the prancing power gets you anything more than ripped off.

What kind of sights do you like on your revolvers?

A Model 10's fixed sights remain the best for me

What handgun points more naturally for you

S&W Model 10 with a 4" pencil barrel. Nothing points better for me.

    Mcgar mags any good?

I have 4 for my RIA 1911. 1 factory, 3 purchased afterwards. All four 8 rounders have worked flawlessly for me through a couple of thousand rounds now of factory and handloads.

    Things of beauty

Revolver - 4" S&W Model 10, pencil barrel. Auto - Jericho 941 Pocket Pistol - either the Colt m1903 or the Baby Browning.

Oddball guns you liked and wish you had kept . . .

Mauser HSc. Exquisite .32 ACP pocket pistol. It went to a good home but I still miss it and want another one.

"What Gun Were You The Most Disappointed With?" Redux

Mauser C96. I paid for a refurb: relined the barrel & refinished it. I still couldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside. Pity, it was a magnificently made firearm. Thankfully I got what I had in it out of it.

What to do in .357/.38spl ? Which one in my future?

I voted S&W. I just don't like the lines of Ruger's revolvers (New Vaq Bisley is the exception to the rule). For what it's worth, I want a Model 13 as my idea of a lighter magnum to complement my DAO Model 10.

Of these choices? 7mm-08. To do what you described? .257 Roberts AI.

    RIA 1911 VS Ruger P97

I've owned both, still have the RIA. I'd say "both". The only time I had a malfunction with either have been with my out of spec reloads.

    32acp suddenly intrigues me

Mauser HSc. Finest of the bunch :D

    Mauser HSc in 7.65

Just as FYI Bob's Gun Parts http://www.gun-parts.com has HSc parts and is where I got a replacement firing pin for mine.

    Mauser HSc in 7.65

Well, I'd take it and restore it but I'm weird that way about that model. Clean it up, have the barrel checked by a good gunsmith and if it's safe to shoot, I'd go for it. I'd probably even pay Turnbull to do the blue _right_. If they work for you, it's still one of the finest .32's ever made.

German Hsc has trouble feeding first rd., or closing slide.

Do you have a new recoil spring in it? If not do that first. If you do, then my suggestion is to get a different magazine. They can have bad lips that you will never get quite right. Key thing - buy a WWII mag. The third party ones out there (cough*Triple K*cough) are made for the post war...

    Remingtons Offical response.

Shrug. A company that wasn't worth much and is now owned by a profit over everything holding company? Thanks but my 700 will stay in my safe unused until I can afford a Timney for it.
