I'm Bob Spargo from Rhode Island and I am a NRA member and belong to two gun clubs in my state. I love the shooting sport and am a handgun person basically. I own several handguns and am an ethusiastic person for Smith and Wesson revolvers. I especially like the classic revolvers(older guns). To me they are pieces of art work.

Alright, I already did a very small intro in my first post, but I guess I can do a better one here.

I've done a lot of research over the past year and a half on guns. I've been a gun person since I was a kid, but that was off and on as other hobbies and fads came along.

Well, after playing a Tom Clancy game in 2013, I started wondering what were the best guns in the world. Initially I was just trying to find out what guns were good values, reliable, effective, etc. and that introduced me to guys like Hickok45, Gunblastdotcom, Nutnfancy, and others on youtube.

I'd say that what interests me most right now is the effect of velocities from short barrels and carbines on hollow point expansion and bullet penetration. I love Shootingthebull410's videos, they are without a doubt the most informative. I also like that brassfetcher guy.

I've learned a lot of the basics and intermediate stuff and now joining this forum I hope to learn more of the advanced stuff when it comes to all guns. I like all guns, but the past few months I've been focused on researching handguns and black powder.

I don't reload and likely never will as the investment in space and money is too much and time is too short. IMO, just stick to .22, 12 gauge .223, .308, 7.62 rifle ammo, stack it deep, and you'll never have to reload. If you run out, a cap and ball revolver loaded with conicals and a muzzleloader with birdshot will put just about anything on the table.

Well, that's about it.

Hi THR,

I have been around guns since I was a kid. More recently have been getting back into it. I've done a lot of research on gun purchases, and how to set up mine, and I always end up here with answers to my questions. So I decided to join.

Hi all. I've been a lurker around here for quite some time, figured it's high time I make an account.
I'm a competative shooter, IDPA, IPSC, 3-Gun and Carbine. Recently got into clays.
I reload, but mainly to keep cost down, not to get super accuracy (but it does help.)

Hi,

My name is Jon and I'm from the UK, currently sunning myself in Florida :) I shoot and reload for various rifles, unfortunately we cant shoot pistols in the UK :(

I love all things gun related and am looking forward to some pistol shooting while in the USA.

Cheers

Jon

G'Day to you all from New Zealand,

I'm a retired old fart and I mostly 'plink' my handguns in good company at my pistol club range. I have a Glock 9mm & .22 conversion, plus several Ruger revolvers including a S.S. Old Army 7.5"

- and various rifles including a silenced 'Just Right Carbine' that uses Glock 9mm mags, and a Lee Enfield bolt-action rifle converted to 9mm with a full barrel silencer.

- I like silencers! I am what the locals call "a Pom' being London born & bred.

I blog about guns and shooting online at: on target shooter nz

Pleased to meet you all, Marty K

My name is Andrea, live in Ky. Spent 8 yrs in the Army, Medic and DI. Yrs were 72-80. Loved firing the weapons, had CCW in Fl. Getting one in KY next month. Have Taurs 38, Ruger 22LR, think I'm going to buy a Browning Nomad today. I've been reading a lot of posts and the info is great and funny at times. 36 years old....ex-USAF 2W2 (Minuteman III - ICBM)

finally have money again and ready to get back into it...I'll take my questions elsewhere as stated

nice to see you all

Good evening folks, I'm Jason. I hail from the northern panhandle of West Virginia. My interests include the annihilation of paper and elimination of water from old milk jugs. Uh oh, sounds like I'm starting off kinda duchy here. My pastor told me not to use big words when diminutive words will work just fine. I am trying to build a nice collection of arms and want to get into 3 gun someday. I also love stuff with 2 wheels and an engine. Mini bikes are my current favorite waste of time.

Hello and thank you for having me :)

The moment I found this forum I just had to join :) We may not always agree but I will do my best to show respect to you and your point of view. It's strange to me, in a way, that I like to discuss something I hope I never have to use outside of recreation, but the right to defend one's self in the gravest extreme is part of what makes America great.

A toast, to endless conversations :D

Relicmoto, I hail from the west cost of the Ohio river but was born in Wheeling. Om,You will find a lot of great conversations here. Welcome to both of you.

Hi from Northern Virginia

Hi, all. I've lurked here awhile but never properly joined the discussions.

I'm an avid gun enthusiast and like all aspects of firearm ownership. I prefer handguns but enjoy long guns as well. I'm a regular IDPA competitor and Safety Officer, teach NRA Basic Pistol and other non-NRA courses in my spare time, and love to participate in all kinds of firearms training.

My current (humid DC area summer) EDC is a S&W Shield and a Steyr S9-A1 the rest of the year. My primary competition pistol is a S&W M&P 9 with an Apex trigger. My favorite long guns (this month) are an IAC AK74 and a Vepr in 7.62x54R.

I'm a strong supporter of 2A and a left of center political moderate. I enjoy travelling and spending as little time in DC as possible.

Welcome back! Id stray very far away from the 597. They're terribly unreliable. Mags have serious issues... For less money you could have a marlin model 60 which is far superior in every way aside from capacity. That said, capacity is no good when your gun wont run. The sr9c though, EXCELLENT choice.

Hello from New Hampshire

My name is Tom and I grew up and currently reside in the good ole' Granite State. I have been collecting firearms for some time now and I humbly learn something new about the hobby every day! My interests lie in older military weaponry (WWI, WWII, and Cold War), and as such I have various sub-collections which represent these time periods. I also love pre-ban guns and proudly own two examples at the moment: a Polytech Bakelite side-folder AKM and a Daewoo K2. I look forward to exploring the wonderful and vast world of firearms with you all.
My Best,
Tom

Hello everyone! I just joined and am excited about the forum. I'm a Texan who enjoys our 2nd amendment rights! Hope everyone has a good week. I look forward to the conversations!

God bless the USA!

I am Charlene From N.C. My father passed away 15mo. ago and I have received 2 guns that I don't know much about. I am looking for some answers. The 1st one has H. Pieper Patented April 23, 1881 DIANA Laminated Steel. The 2nd one has Savage Arms Corporation Westfield, Mass, U.S.A .22 Long Riffle, Proof Tested 20 Gauge Savage 24j-DL It has a fox on one side and a Turkey on the other. Can anyone give me some information on these guns and are they worth much. Thanke

I was a member of this forum years ago under a different name.
And the good people running this forum were kind enough to merge my old user name account (Nematocyst) from years ago with my new one so that all my old posts are now listed under my new name. (I've undergone some pretty big life transitions, so retiring the old name was appropriate.) That's why my post count jumped from about 40 to over 23,000 in one day. :D

Welcome to all the new members.

Charlene, it's great to have new female members to keep us from becoming a good ol' boys club. With women around to keep us in line, we're likely to be more civil. Can't answer your gun questions, but I suggest that you start a thread about them in a relevant subforum. The second can go in Rifle Country. Is the first also a long gun?

Hey people! Just joined and new to the forums but not new to firearms. My dad taught me how to fish, hunt and shoot since I was 5, and been doing it ever since. There is just something I love about all 3 of those things, it just gets in your blood. But I joined to hopefully help out on some firearm questions. I am very well versed in the Beretta 92FS, Marlin lever action rifles, Mini 14 rifles, old Fox model shot guns, and stock refinishing. Hope you guys will have me.
