Greetings, I am a newbie. My Speer #13 manual states their Speer 62 gr. 224 FMJ-BT will take up to a max of 25.5 gr. of IMR 4064. Could the Lake City 62 grain .224 FMJ- M855 be loaded as though it were a Speer bullet and handle being worked up to such pressures as the Speer bullet without exceeding max pressure? Thanks

No, the 62 Gr M885 bullet has a steel insert and is longer (More bearing surface) than the Speer 62 Gr FMJ lead core bullet.

Welcome to THR

You can probably use that data, but start at the min and work up watching for pressure signs. You will not get great accuracy with that bullet so what I do is work up till the action cycles reliably and call it a day. If you are trying to duplicate factory M855 loads I can save you some time and effort, just don't, you won't get close.

Accurate powder has 5.56 data on their website.....you can run loads up to 63,000 psi in a gun with a 5.56 chamber. DO NOT use this data on a .223 chambered gun.

I loaded some 55 grain Nosler's using 5.56 data and AA2230. 25.3 grains shot great.

If its a 5.56 chamber, he's using published load data from accurate powder, even the max load should be safe. They wouldn't put it out there, if it would blow a gun up.
