Hi guys,

Every time I shoot my 5.5" Stainless Bisley Blackhawk with stronger .45LC loads I remember that the factory grips look pretty but seem to hit my hand in the wrong spots. The contour is just odd compared to more authentic replica designs like on Cimarrons, Ubertis, etc. I don't even know if I want them in wood, faux ivory, bone, or some other exotic material. Looks-wise I'll know the right material when I see it. Whose grips have you used, and what material might you suggest for a stainless gun?

Thanks!

My favorite gripmaker for Rugers has gone and retired, leaving a void in my life. The problem with the factory grips is that they are way too thin and poorly shaped. For an off the shelf grip, the Hogue cowboy grips (not the thin "gunfighter" grips) are actually quite nice. Thicker than stock and nicely rounded.

I have a very nice set of black Bisley grips that I got from Hogue IIRC.
Had a stainless 45 Colt fitted with Bisley grip, hammer and trigger ansnd was looking for a set of grips to accent the project. Everyone who has seen it was quite impressed.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys, I'm liking the elk! I'll look into Hogue as well, black would look good against the stainless.

These are Hogues and I liked them very much:

There is always the custom route, but that is considerably more expensive.

Wow! I thought there was a custom look about that revolver. Very nice!

Wow, Tim has Corian grips? Interesting use of that material. Some good looking stuff in there.
