Picked up a Sig P938 today and ran 100 rounds through it. I was surprised at how soft shooting it was. Quite accurate as well! I'm very happy with it. WAS going to get a Glock 43, but now will just run with this. :D

You did well, my 938 has G10 grips and extended mag which aids in the easily tamed recoil. These pistols are accurate and reliable. Now get a P238 for those extra concealment days.

Thanks, Ibmikey. Mine has the Hogue grip and the rear night sights with the night sight w/ fiber optic front. Very nice setup. I gave it a cleaning a few moments ago and really like how well it is made. I consider it "done looking" now. Just need to run some more rounds through it, but I'm quite happy with the purchase!

But yeah, the 7 round magazine does make it feel better. I get most of my pinkiioy on it, so that's good. I'm getting one more 7 round magazine.

Thanks again for the comment. :)

Thanks drband.

I have gone through countless options and there always was something about them I didn't like much and have to live with. Shield, XDs, Kahr, EMP, [to name a few]. I was already carrying an old F.I. Industries Model D 380acp pistol and really didn't like carrying it because of it's age and infrequent stove pipe.

How many rounds do you all suggest running through this to "break it in"? I did 105 today and wasn't fatigued at all.

My wife bought one last week. Sig P938 BRG. She put 112 flawless rounds downrange on her first outing with it. She loves it! :)

Already have (and really like a lot), a SIG P238. Tried my stepson's P938 and was immediately impressed by how compact and lightweight it was. Handled nicely with great ergonomics and well thought out design features.

My P-938 Extreme has been flawless (as has the wife's P-238, which has a better trigger). I am very happy with this pistol, to the point where it's replaced my J-frames ...

Congrats on an excellent choice. My P938 Extreme is my EDC.

I have about 450-500 down range. No failures. You should be good to go after a few hundred-- whatever your comfort level is. [emoji41]

I see the 938 SAS a "carry melt" dehorning type of treatment... do all the 938 pistols come that way or is it specific to the SAS version? My step-dad is considering trading his NIB Glock 23 he won at Friends of NRA event to get aforementioned Sig 9mm. Thanks.

The SAS dehorning really makes a nice carry piece. I recommend it! I too, only have 7 rd. mags.

Bannock burn, the ergonomics of the P938 are good because Star perfected the pistol in the thirties, forties, etc with their Model D and DK pistols which just happen to be the base that the Sig P238, 938, Mustang and Kimber Micro are all built upon. My Star pistols run like clocks so it was destined that i would need the above pistols to shoot as well, one of the four is my daily companion.

I like my P938, so much that it's pretty much my EDC gun. It's carried allot more than it's fired. Sometimes I'll grab a J frame revolver instead or my G27 depending what mood I'm in LOL.

I bought my first P-938 about 2 years and what a great little gun it has turned out to be. It's only had a few hundred rounds through it but it's never had even the slightest hiccup.

I liked this P 938 so much when I just happened to stumble up on another new one only the Equinox 938 @ a gun show I had to have it.
I had no intentions of buying a 2nd one but stranger things happen as we all know.

Probably about a year ago Sig sent me a email flyer. They were running their P938 22 LR conversion kits on sale. I threw the idea around then I went ahead and ordered one of the kits. It has worked out real well and has turned out being very reliable once I found what 22 ammo it likes. I put the conversion kit on the 938 Equinox. I take it to the range quite often.
The reason I'm even bringing up the conversion kit I thought it might interest some of you who have the P938's and might not even realize they have these kits for them.

The same time I was buying the Equinox 938 we bought the wife a P 238. She's put a few boxes through it. So far it's been 100% reliable.
Before we got her P 238 I tried to talk her into getting the P938 instead but she insisted on getting the little 238 after she handled it.
She did fire my 938 when we took them to the range. When she fired a few rounds of the 9 she said it was a little to much for her that she was glad she got the 380 instead.

Just a nitpick FWIW, there are two different conversion kits available to fit the 938, One with a 3.3" barrel, and one with a 4.1" barrel. Unfortunately, the Sig website fails to mention this fact.

I think it's reasonable to assume the more costly kit is the one with the 4.1" barrel. Also the shorter barreled kit used to have night sites instead of adjustable target sights. I don't know if this is still the case. Sigs website is woefully short on specifics.

Anyway, I have a 938 and a 4.1" adapter kit and like it. It is a little picky about ammo, not liking lower power stuff. I tend to just feed it CCI and save the low velocity stuff for my revolvers.

Edit: According to a video of a Sig guy at shot show, the long slide version has a 4.4" barrel.
I'm too lazy to go dig mine out and measure it.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that there is or was a couple different conversion kits for them.
Curiosity got the best of me so I went down to dig it out so I could measured it. It's 4" so it must be that 4.1" you mentioned. Maybe the 4.4" is another option or a change they made for some reason. The end of the barrel just barely sticks out past the business end of the slide.

The label on the shipping sleeve says Conversion Kit,938,.22,Target.

the code on that same label says Conv-938-22-TGT. there's some numbers I didn't write down. It's probably Sig's (SKU) stocking numbers.

Before buying this kit for the 938 I ordered the 22 conversion kit for the P220. The little I've used the P220 Kit it seems to be a little more picky what ammo it likes.

I have both the P938 and the P238. I have several hundred rounds through both. Not had a problem with either one. They make a great CCW.

Great choice. I just took mine to the range for the first time. Fed it 115, 124 and 147 grn FMJs without a hiccup. Also fired some 124 grn Gold Dots in std and +P. Still, very soft shooting. I have shot a lot of pocket 380s and 9mms. I think the 938 is the softest shooting of the bunch.

Sour Kraut, I think you may be correct. I was initially expecting a sharp recoil, but when I shot the first round, I realized just how nice this little gun is. And it conceals quite nicely, too! Even with the 7 round magazine! I'm glad to have it.

Love my SAS. I carry it iwb with the 6rd mag and then have 3 7rd mags on the belt. Can conceal in all seasons easily and feels secure having 28rds if ever needed.

Over the years I had thought about getting one of the mini .380s made by Star (as well as the other versions like the FI Model D and IJ Pony), but never got around to it. Finally picked up a Colt Mustang which is basically a more compact version of the Colt Government .380. It has been 100% reliable, accurate enough for the job at hand, easy to shoot, and very comfortable to carry. A couple of years ago I decided to add a SIG P238 to the CCW mix as I liked the addition of SIG night sights and a detachable laser to the package. Will probably acquire a P938 eventually to go with the others as it's ergonomics and design features will make for another great concealed carry piece to have.
