Great "the Gun, not my son"

The end effect is the lack of security and no way to defend is what enabled this to happen. Those issues need to be addressed.

While in some states and some areas they were addressed with teachers and staff being armed to stop this from happening. But that wasn't the case for that college in Oregon.

Who was responsible for security? Who dropped the ball? And what genius decided that a defenseless gun free school/college was a good idea? Is the defenseless gun free zone going to continue to be policy for that college? And why aren't these issues being discussed by the very people who run our education system?

The politicians and media want to blame the gun, they should be blaming the very people running the college that decided a gun free defenseless was a good idea. Again, where was security and how come no one (to my knowledge) has been held accountable for poor security procedures?

True. But Jim Crow was primarily a regional attitude. Beginning in the late 1960's and through the '70's it exploded into a national attitude.
Pete Shields founded Handgun Control,Inc in 1975 with the prime object of banning all handguns from "civilians", and the anti-gun march began its real serious roll which continues to the present day.
Completely correct. Thanks.

Bobby Jindal blasted the father today saying that the father owes the victims an apology since his son wouldn't have been so screwed up if he hadn't walked out on the family years ago.

Now the mother is being quoted as being pro-2nd. I am guessing some of the guns "purchased by family members" are hers. And she has posted thst her son has Aspergers.

I don't know what's worse; CNN tracking down the dad for a comment or the dad actually agreeing to an interview.

This thread is missing the point entirely... This whole tragic event was George Bush's fault. The libs blame him for every bad thing that ever happened, so why not this?

I find it entirely fitting and proper that the mascot of the Democratic party is......... A Jackass.

The man lost his son, OK. The father must have know his son had some mental problems and some guns. So why didn't he inform the police, ATF or any agency that might have prevented the kid from buying forearms? Was he ashamed[ the mental illness was in his family?/B]

Responsibility

Our society has fallen into the trap of not making each individual take responsibility for his or her actions or lack of action.

People who advocate for disarmament, and thereby promote victimization, should be held responsible for that position (as the anti-gun people propose for the gun manufacturers.)

Similarly, people who understand their rights and the responsibility citizens have to care about the safety and protection of others must keep in mind the high degree of care they must exercise to avoid violating the rights of innocent persons.

What may appear to be a crime on the street can easily be a misreading of events. Look at the police officers who have been criticized for reacting to street crime. They are trained specifically to handle these situations.

We see the "video bites" and hear the "sound bites" that some people want us to, in order to make us think what they want us to.
