Gonna make a short story long. I usually like "white" grips on "silver" guns so when I had John Culina make me a couple extra sets of micarta grips for both a N and K frame square butts, I didn't actually have guns for them. Just figured I'd get `em while the getting was good because it took me a long time to find someone to make this style of grip from ivory micarta.

I don't go to gun shows very often because, quite frankly, I hate them. Everybody is trying to get rich off every sale. Used guns are sky high. New guns are MSRP and have spent months on the gun show circuit. I used to go religiously but I can't remember the last time I bought a gun at one. So yesterday I figured I'd run off to the gun show and make it back in time for my wife's quilt show. Got about a third of the way through the show and after looking at an obviously refinished .38-44HD at a lofty price, I remembered why I stopped going. I muttered to myself, "God, I hate gun shows!" with a few expletives thrown in for good measure. Two minutes later I was staring at a nickeled 4" model 15-3 in such good shape that I thought it too good to be true. I've long had a 'thing' for K-frames and did a good bit of hunting with my K-22 in my early 20's. Always wanted a "set", consisting of .22LR, .22Mag, .32S&W(or H&R) and .38Spl guns in 4", 6" and 8 3/8" lengths. The price was a little steep and I'm still acclimating myself to the current S&W market so I put it down and finished my rounds through the show. I made it to the end without finding anything else interesting but couldn't stop thinking about that 15. So I went back and gave it a more thorough inspection. If it's been refinished, I can't tell. The whole sixgun looks practically new. I chewed on my lip for a few minutes, talked him down a little bit and brought it home. Here it is with the grips installed and also with its cousin, a model 18.

Still a long way from my "set" but I now have .38's in 2", 4" and 6", plus .22LR's in 4" and 6". Not a .22Mag (stupidly traded my 648) or .32 in sight but I ain't dead yet.

Oooohhh man, those are some NICE grips on a NICE revolver!!! Perfect combination, and they look comfortable!!!

Congrats on 1 fine purchase!!!!! :D

Fantastic find! Those ivory micarta grips go perfectly with that beautiful nickel plated Model 15.

So I have to be the odd man out here and mention that the blued revolver is one gorgeous specimen. Very, very nice! I don't think there's a prettier revolver ... well, maybe only a high-luster blue Python is equal, but I think I need to own both for a while to judge accurately - if only I did own both..... your micarta grips are nice too, btw.

Very nice. I lucked out last year and found a near-perfect nickel Model 15 in a pawn shop of all places. Ended up buying it cheaper than I could have imagined.

The S&W Model 15 is an oft overlooked gem.

That looks like a pretty good one.
