The Return of TFL - The High Road's Future?

Very Glad To See TFL Back!

I don't come around here much anymore except to post in the Classified Section every once in awhile. From what I have read things haven't changed very much here. With TFL back up there will be another option for those who have been told the THR classic line "if you don't like it feel free to go to another site". I suppose what goes around....comes around. :D

I read the e-mail yesterday. Hmmm...didnt TFL leave us all stranded because of the pressing demands of publishing a magazine and operating a forum at the same time ?

What if they get stressed out again? headscratch.gif

Just wondering.

I'll be there. It's like Cheers re-opening. How can you not go?

Presently, you can log in, but none of the 'posting' type buttons are available. The PM system is up and running. however.

Some people are milling about in the lobby waiting for the doors to unlock.

I'm not leaving

Why advertise that your forum is open then not let anyone post? Seem like Rich is snookering everyone. I don't post much but I look daily and this is one of the very best forums around, both in content and administration.

Because TFL was never fully shut down. It has remained up in archive form since they disabled posting rights on 12/31/02.

I was a member on The Firing Line and have it on my computer for its archives.

I like THR forum a lot and will remain here. I'll also check out TFL as well.

So as an outsider looking in, I can't say I like what I'm seeing here. Too many are taking an either/or stand. The division is already beginning and the fight has already started. Bad news for both boards.

I'm a little confused. Why would anyone take a "stand?" Both boards have the same goals, the same moderators, and largely, the same members.

If there IS a problem, my guess is that it's related to some members being entirely too tied up in their post counts at one particular board.

Heck, you can go to both, either, or neither. Where's the problem?

I wasnt going to post on this subject, but my fingers always get the better of me. I was never a member at TFL. THR has been my home, but not my only home. There is so much info out there, for you to just stay at one board. Like some others have said. I see no problem with 2 boards. I post on AR15.com, Snipershide, Snipersparadise, Smith & Wesson Forum & THR. Theres a need for all boards, its just a vast wealth of information thats out there. The more the merrier. I will check TFL out, but my first stop is always THR. There SHOULDN'T be any division here between THR & TFL. If so, then it's the fault of many.

I came here from techreport.coms computer forums on a semi-invite by webhobbit. Never knew TFL before it was shutdown and only have a read a very few articles from it for reference. I'm sure it'll end up being a decent site again but between wife, kids, work, wife, guns, THR, and wife I just don't have that much time for another board. Heck I don't even read anything from techreport anymore because THR takes up my free time.

Never got the e-mail, but my account still works.

Seems kind of redundant, though. I mean, one site is created to replace the other... so it can come back again with mostly the same members in both?

And a place for anti-RKBA L&P trolls to register to do the same thing over again seems like a dubious "benefit." :barf:

I lurk at 1911forum.com and rarely post. I will most likely lurk at TFL also. Most of my postings will be here, I like the atmosphere and the people. As a side note......YEAH 100 posts from me! I am a Senior Member finally!

I doubt I'll go back often. THR is a good general purpose forum that I visit a good bit. I don't have use for Two general purpose sites. I also hit 1911forum, AK-47.net, and Parralax. I was upset by the TFL closing, like a friend moving away. It was my first gun site. I hope all can exist and be of benefit to the users. I've seen to many other forums with a lack of users and discussion.

Heh - not trying to bring back an old thread, but when I finally found out about TFLs return, I had to look up THR again and this thread specifically to find out just when TFL rose from the grave. I knew it'd be here. (time and a fast paced schedule had me lost to the winds) Just adding a last post to let ya know that TFL's return also brought at least one member back to THR again. :)

I'll be back. On both forums.

I've been a long time member of both TFL and THR!

And, IMHO, they are not the same at all. Each one of the sites has a somewhat different "character" and adds a somewhat different "flavor" to things "gunny". I am retired and I look at each of them on a daily basis over morning coffee. I certainly don't feel that they are so redundant that one must stay and one must go. I have learned a lot on each one of them. Each has contributed to my personal education about firearms as well as to my personal enjoyment :D

I was sorry when TFL went down originally and was pleased to see THR begin and fill a real need. I certainly hope that they both find a niche and stay around for a long, long time. Good shooting;)

WOW!! I didn't even realize that thefiringline.com forum was back. I went over to do a search and realized there were new posts. This is fantastic!!!!!

I Agree with GunNut

The more the merrier. The High Road and The Firing Line are BOTH fine forums. To me THR is a bit easier to navigate, if only because there are fewer choices to make. However, TFL seems to have more categories in which to look and that probably helps to keep posting more 'focused'.

I like them both and plan to visit both fairly often. See you there !

At work, TFL access is blocked. Evil guns, I guess. :(

THR is not blocked. At least not yet. Maybe the ".org" means it hasn't come to the notice of the internet nazis.
