I could not help but notice that quite a number of Ruger LCP .380 ACP Pistol models are on sale this morning all over the place at a good $100 off the previous pricing - that makes them less than $200 each!

Anyone know what the story is?

Is Ruger going to quit making them and this is an inventory close out before a new and improved small pistol is released? Or is it just an exceptional Cyber Monday deal? I always heard good things about the LCP, although I have never fired one myself. This just seems almost too good to be true.

No, it's a good way to raise money, fast, and they may be looking down the line at releasing a new gun. I paid $259, 6 years ago for one, so it is interesting. Some guns went up and some went down, I guess it's supply and demand, or perhaps they see a trend towards 9mm small pistols.
I sold my PPQ yesterday, for more than I paid, why not, I can always buy another for less. They also came out with a 40 and a 45 cal model of the gun, as did H&K with the VP9.
I would imagine they do their homework, because I would never do that if I were either one of them.
It seems at least in the US, people are leaning to the 9mm rather than the 40, as we discussed many times before. But perhaps the market is in other countries for their 40 and 45 cal guns.
H&K makes a lot of guns in that , P30 style, in 45 and 40 did they really need a VP9 in 40 and 45?
We just don't think like they do, or the Glock 43 would have at least 1 more round in it if not 2.

Maybe they're getting ready to dramatically improve the LCP trigger and they're trying to move the old stock first. Or maybe they're planning on making more LCP Customs. The $199.99 sales are not on LCP Custom pistols just the regular 3701 models.

I know people who purchased the LC9s when it came out and kept their old LC9 too.

Trigger improvement should probably be their priority. The LCP I tried had the worst trigger I've ever felt on anything short of a weedeater.

I wonder if they're going to release an LCPs with a similar striker fire system to what the LC9s uses.

Kentucky Guns had the LCP Custom on sale yesterday for $215.99. While not $199.99, it was still a screaming deal. I was tempted to get one, but I picked up one of their Flat Dark Earth models for $205 instead.

I ordered one yesterday from Grab-a-Gun. By the time I get it home, it will have cost me $245.

Not bad, considering everyone near me wants $299-335 before taxes. :)

Good thing I didn't see that. I have owned (and sold) three earlier model LCPs. Been looking at the Custom...only a matter of time before I find one at the right place.

The ones I've seen have all been the raspberry/pink framed ones. I just figured they were having a hard time moving that particular color.

My LGS had the LC9s with the Raspberry frame for $250.00 (150 off). Other colors were the regular price.

I didn't care what color it was so I grabbed one of those.

I ordered an LCP Custom from Davidson's. $199+taxes & fees, came out to $227 total for me. Prices from Davidson's depends on the local dealer it comes through. The Customs are out of stock currently, but they had lots on Monday night then they were gone by Tuesday afternoon then more showed up Tuesday night. Might be worth checking from time to time if you're looking for a Custom.

They have lots of the standard black LCP. I could have gotten one of those for $188 + taxes & fees, around $215 total. They have some of the other colors, too.
