I've read a lot of threads on x39 and AR's. I still want one I can just throw an ASC mag in and go.

Some have high strength bolts with different shaped lugs.
Some have x39 extractors
Some have blended m4 feed ramps
Some have recessed carriers, others extended firing pins

And one day I want to try the ultimate perversion: AR in x39 with a piston conversion.

If I was made of money if just get a POF Puritan upper.

how are you going to solve the magazine problem? 7.62x39 = very tapered, ar-15 magazine well = no taper

Some might call me crazy, but you might try these guys:

online Reviews are hard to find and some not good, but they list in the selling area of THR and I just took a chance and purchased a 16" 300 AAC Blackout Upper from them and love it. It came in as promised, well-made, true-to-spec, and fit a Stag lower like a glove. I shot it yesterday for the first time; 20 rounds, no problems whatsoever, 2" 8 round group standing unsupported at 25 yards. I'd buy from them again without hesitation; the transaction was completely smooth.

I plan on using ASC mags, and adding AK springs if needed, and possibly filing down the front feed lip as necessary. I also plan on polishing the M4 feed ramps/ barrel extension wider.

I'm going 16" carbine gas.

Beretta Prof: good eye! I'm not into quad rails or m4 profiles, but it still looks like a tempting value for the money. High strength bolt, x39 extractor, and a charging handle for $319 to boot

Maybe I am missing something. But that is easily accomplished. I have Model 1 sales and PSA uppers that fit on any of my ar lowers and work flawlessly with mags designed for the ar '39 round. AR Stoner mags work well for me.

Thanks. I was interested in PSA. Model 1 only offers HBAR profiles apparently.

A lot more people have had success than have given up on x39 I'm guessing after reading plenty of threads.
