not yet, but im getting one, this is the revolver i decided on in a recent thread of mine.. i really like themAnyone got one of these?
It's been getting worse at Ruger. I've heard dealers say they've had to send back GP100's because their timing was off or the hand was busted.I bought a 4 inch 45 Colt redhawk earlier this year. It was in embarrassingly bad condition for being a NIB gun. Ruger apparently felt that because it was a brushed stainless gun that dents, scratches and dings all over it didnt matter. I sent it back to the place I ordered it from. All of my other Ruger stainless revolvers have excellent finishes. Really made me think twice about Rugers QC.
I was under the impression that current GP100s are actually better than the old ones in terms of fit and finish. A few lemons does not mean Ruger DA revolvers are going downhill, by absolutely no means. It's been getting worse at Ruger. It's starting to come to the point with manufacturers that buying used is as good as buying new.
How many Rugers have you owned? I've bought 39 Rugers and currently own 25. Do you know how many I've had issues with since I got my first 25yrs ago? One. And its issue wouldn't have been caught by QC, unless they're measuring firing pin protrusions. It's been getting worse at Ruger......It's starting to come to the point with manufacturers that buying used is as good as buying new.
How was the timing off? Ruger's habit of putting an early rising bolt in everything just about precludes any timing issues out of the box.I've heard dealers say they've had to send back GP100's because their timing was off or the hand was busted.
About the steel in the moon clips being soft, if someone here could do a Rockwell hardness test on them compared to the S&W clips, I'm sure all of us here would be interested to hear which steel is harder.Flashcube said:I bought one.... and then was immediately pissed off at Ruger over it. In typical Ruger fashion, it ONLY uses Ruger's moon clips. No-go on the piles of clips I use with my Colt's and Smiths even though the chamber spacing is the same... heck, the Ruger clips don't work in my other revolvers either...
I gave Ruger their scout rifle mag BS once they got a cheap version on the market, but seriously $14.95 + shipping for THREE clips!? Really!? You can get ten from Wilson Combat plus a de-mooning tool for that much...
The supplied clips from Ruger are not even very good... Knocked a loaded one off my desk and it bent badly enough to be ruined, steel was butter soft. Makes them easy to load and unload by hand, but bending from a drop of maybe three feet tops isn't acceptable.
