I like my Shooting Chrony. It works well but I bought the cheapest one thinking I would probably at least need to shoot one to keep Murphy happy. It's still alive. Wish I would have got one with the remote.
I like the features of my Pact XP but the one I use the most is my $20 shooting chrony (sportsmans warehouse had a coupon). It's fast and easy to use day or night.
The criticism is fair based on limited information previously posted; however, without seeing what it looks like or how it’s used is unwarranted. The plate is slightly larger than the face of the chrono, is at an angle, and is attached to a ~1ft long 2x4. The chrono is attached to the 2x4 by a small piece of Velcro in case it falls due to the plate getting hit. In addition, the device is not heavy and is not attached to anything, which allows it to slide backwards if hit. If or when the plate does gets hit, the projectile shards are deflected away from the shooter because the plate is at an angle. Also, only handguns are used with this chrono setup (NMT 1500 fps, which is must less than a rifle).
Based on experience, its much safer shooting it (not intentionally) then shooting steel plates designed for the shooting sports.
