After trying a buddy’s gun with HD night sights I just have to have a set for my G26. The gun I tried out had the orange front sight.
After looking around the net for a set and comparing photo's and reviews it looks like the the yellow might be easier for me to see in daylight.

So, has anyone here had a chance to try out both the yellow and orange HD's? Which do you like better for everyday.
At first I was thinking orange, now I'm thinking yellow.

Thoughts, Opinions ?

It will be an individual eyesight thing.
I have the yellow HD and it works for me in daylight better than orange.
HD are very good sights.

The tritium half life warranty on Green & Yellow is 12 years.

Orange is only 5 years.

Where did you find this information?

Edit- I called Trijicon and you are absolutely correct. They said something about the amount of earth element in the Tritium and phosphorescent paints causes the yellow to last longer than the orange. Great information and thank you for sharing.

I have yellow on a G26. After trying out quite a few sights over the last 10+ years, these are extremely versatile for carry with great ease of acquisition. There's really nothing I dislike about them. Not the HDs, but I've had other orange night sights that didn't glow as brightly and didn't stand out to my eyes as much.

I tried both colors but ended up keeping the yellows. I have them on several guns now and really like 'em.

The yellow vs. orange that is being discussed here refers to the photo-luminescent paint ring around the outside of the front sight tritium vial, and has absolutely nothing to do with the half-life of the tritium.

^^ While it's only tangentially related, I for one learned something from that post and am glad it was mentioned.

I have not tried the HD sights but I highly recommend contrasting color between front and rear night sights. My carry gun has standard Trijicons with a green front dot and yellow rears. How much does the ring around the front globe of the HDs glow in total darkness?

The fluorescent ring on the HD front sight doesn't really glow unless charged by a flashlight first. It's really more for faster sight acquisition in daylight, but here is a picture of the front sight after being hit with a SureFire light for a few seconds:

Having a blacked out rear sight is the way to go rather than 'contrasting colors' IMO. It keeps your focus on the front sight where it should be.

I have the yellows on my P2000sk. They have worked well for me. I think the orange works better against very pale backgrounds like white walls, but the yellow is still OK.

I haven't tried both colors of the HD sights, but I have had night sights on pistols for over a decade...Trijicon, Ameriglo, Meprolight.

I LOVE the yellow front Trijicon HD's I put on a pistol recently. I will be going with them whenever possible from now on, including taking a set of 10 year old meps off a G26 to replace with the Trij HD

My wife went with the orange on her P30. When we target shoot using Shoot n See type targets, they show yellow when hit, so she wanted the contrast.

I just put the yellow on my P30sk, it's closer to the Luminova sights on my other HKs. I love those, but want something that will glow without being charged on a primary carry gun.
