I use 8.2gr of AA#5 with an xtreme 158gr CPFP. I am about out. I currently have Powder Pistol, Unique, Bullseye and Titegroup, lots of each except Power Pistol. I was thinking of trying out the Power Pistol.

Thoughts?

I have a bullseye load I use with lead at 4.5 grs with 158gr Speer LSWC. I'm looking for as close to a high end load I can get without hurting my hand, under 1200 fps.

For a higher-end load, I'd suggest Unique. Much slower than Bullseye, will get up to higher velocities better and safer. Power Pistol may work, but it'll be really flashy!!

I grabbed the Power Pistol because it was on the shelf, what is the best use for it? I know 9mm, but I really like Titewad for the 9mm, gives a nice load for my wife you know if you have a double load.

LongShot, WSF, HS6.
Acc#5 is a medium burn rate spherical pistol powder. Many similar powders.

I like the firing quality of my Unique loads, and more recently; Herco.
But those are all of the 125 grain variety, and typically JHP.

If you could find some, I'm betting Herco would do great with the 158.
But maybe not, so definitely roll some up with Unique.
Or try them all, to see which you favor.

Try Ramshot TrueBlue.

I load 158-gr. swaged rounds that will run about 900-915 from a 2&1/8" barrel (S&W 640). Burns clean, too.

Sounds like Unique may be the best, I will look for some of the others, I have see WSF on the shelf. I don't want true magnum shots, especially with the 1.8" LCR357.

What do the real load sources tell you? I could share what I use, but why should you trust my information?

I noticed Power Pistol was mentioned as giving good results in 45 Colt. I bought mine for 40 S&W but am finding lots of applications published for it. It is in that same burn rate class as your AA#5 (as is Unique).

I grabbed it because it was in the same burn rate range as the 357, I like to try new powders. Alliant shows it with jacketed 158gr bullets, as does the Speer load manual a range of 7.5 to 8.5. I was thinking around 7.5 to 7.8 for a copper plated 158gr bullet.

Extreme says to use high range lead to mid range jacketed for their plated bullets, I think it would be ok going with as high as 7.8. Would try a ladder load from 7.5 to 8.0.

I'm a Longshot and HS6 fanatic, but Longshot is a full throttle powder in 9mm, so I have no idea if it is compatible with a standard thin copper plated bullet.

I would imagine TP bullets are probably ok to use with LS.

Blue Dot too maybe, again though, I'm not a plated bullet guy.

Unique is good from mid 38 loads to midrange magnum loads, and is one of my top performers for low range magnum loads. It will also have a less obvious fireball that snubbes are known for.

If you can't find any AA#5 I would go with HS-6 instead. it's a great choice IMO and if you are going to push the .357 Magnum ammo up near factory ammo Long shot is also a good choice.

I used to use Blue Dot for my hot .357 loads, but they were much hotter than it sounds like you want. The Unique and Power Pistol should work fine.

800X works well but meters poorly. VV N340 or 350 would be good choices but their expensive.
